Except for English compre n being 1% short of a 3.6 GPA for HMT, my DS did v well for the rest. Geog, chem RA n SS to be revealed today.

      Excellent results!

Tks jtoh. If I recall correctly, ur DD is in RGS right? My DS mentioned tt the math n science clubs in RGS will cease to take in new members next yr which means these 2 clubs will be phased out when the existing members move on to JC. I find this a bit odd, since the girls too are a big source of our future engineers n scientists. Any clue what's going on?

Need someone suggest the shoes for Y3 OBS activity. The notice shows "Shoe for water activities , closed toe for protection from underwater rocks", can someone recommand what type of the closed toe shoe? Where to buy? Thanks in advance.

For this one I just let ds bring one of his old pair of white school shoes - ie, dun wear those more expensive sport shoes for such activities.

The term \"closed toe\" just means it's not the \"open\" strapped sandals kind of thing.

Thanks a lot, seaglass. According to the pack list, DS should carry a big luggage. It seem a normal luggage cannot hold so much thing. No sure whether the boys will carry the luggage in hiking. Should they carry a back pack for hiking?

My DS went through OBS early this year. For personal big luggage bag, back packs are preferable. As the walk from jetty to camp is over uneven road surface, luggage bag with wheels may not be suitable for dragging over the uneven terrain to base camp. He carried one big back pack (from my young backpacking days, hee hee) and hand carried 4 big distilled water bottles in plastic bag. He remembered that they were issued standard OBS back packs for long hikes ie personal luggage bags will be left at base camp.

Do bring at least 3 long pants. Most likely will tear during activities. So buy cheapest types. When kayaking, Wear long sleeve tee n apply sunblock liberally periodically n wear cap. Otherwise, kena sun burn.

Bring old socks n shirts, to throw after OBS, cos u really don't feel like laundering after seeing n smelling the state these items are in when ur DS comes home.

May all Ur DSs hv a fun memorable OBS in jan!

Thank you so much for your information. So I have to prepare a big camp backpack for my ds.

Please other parents give me/us suggestion according to your ds experience. Thanks a lot for your warm heart.

Wow I think naggo-nitemare must be very pro at camping.. ๐Ÿ™‚

We are not the very outdoor camping type either, so we dun have that type of big backpack. Ds just used one large sports bag (the hand-carrying type) plus one medium backpack to divide up the load.

They did have loads of fun. Even managed to do some star-gazing. Didn't see much wildlife though. Probably the boys were too noisy, hee..
