        slmkhoo:
I have some questions about Yr3 books. Can any of this year's Yr3s or their parents answer these questions? Thanks!

        1. Lit - is there a Shakespeare play done in Yr3? There isn't one on the booklist. I would have thought that there would definitely be a Shakespeare?

        2. Lit again - did this year's Yr3s do \"Joy Luck Club\"? If so, anyone with a clean, good condition Penguin edition to sell?

        3. Maths 1 - no textbook required? There is only an A. Maths book on the list.

        4. Sciences - no textbooks required?

The booklist has very little on it! It seems that textbooks are not required for most subjects.
My girl has physics and chemistry o level books on her year 1 textbook list and we bought them. I presume these books will be used for four years.

hi, my dd will be in yr 3 next yr and doing Lit.

noted on booklist the publisher for \"Joy Luck Club\" is Penguin.
I hv a copy of the book but by a DIFFERENT publisher, can my DD use it in class instead ?

Like slmkhoo, I'd like to get a 2nd hand copy published by Penguin, please PM me if anyone has a copy to sell 🙂

          Thank you 🙂

I don't know if it can be used in class. I also have an old copy but intend to get the Penguin ed. for my daughter. My thinking is that if the teacher uses page nos. from this edition, or the girls need to discuss etc, a lot of time can be wasted trying to make sure they are reading the same passage.

              Hi all?

Care to share your gal’s GPA for final year1 results? My gal has improved although she struggled in some of her subjects. Hope she is able to plan better in her Year 2 after the experiences she encountered in Year1

I would like to check since Y1 GPA is to use only 7 subjects, can 3rd Lang be used in place of one of the subjects? Dd get 3.89 if she use 3rd Lang and 3.83 otherwise.

Is there no grade point 3.8? I see the 70-79 also GP 3.6. Dd got a couple of 79 which gives only 3.6. I think for 60-69 the scale is more granula right? There is 3.4 and 3.2. What is the rationale behind this grading method for above 70?

Third lang grades can be used in place of one of the other humanities, ie lit, history or geog. Your results slip would have calculated the best GPA for your daughter's subjects.

                    There is no 3.4. There's just 4.0, 3.6, 3.2, 2.8 etc; 0.4 mark differences between GPAs.

                      Some questions about results:

Does anyone know where I can find the median overall GPA for a particular year? What % of students get 4.0? How many get under 3.5? I just want to have an idea where my daughter stands. And is the GPA calculated as the average of the individual subjects GPA? My daughter’s GPA shows as 0.0 at the moment! I’ve already told her FT and hope they will issue a new report soon.

Does RGS only give the median mark for each subject? I would actually prefer a percentile ranking or at least the quartile marks as well - again, just so we have a clearer idea where our daughter stands.

                      Thanks!

                        simkhoo,

The overall median GPA and percentiles are not published. The school might brief the students on the results at a later date.

Yes, the GPA is calculated as an average of the GPAs of 7 subjects. The computer was probably confused by your dd's grades bec there were no scores for the first half of the year.
