Some questions about results:
Does anyone know where I can find the median overall GPA for a particular year? What % of students get 4.0? How many get under 3.5? I just want to have an idea where my daughter stands. And is the GPA calculated as the average of the individual subjects GPA? My daughterβs GPA shows as 0.0 at the moment! Iβve already told her FT and hope they will issue a new report soon.
Does RGS only give the median mark for each subject? I would actually prefer a percentile ranking or at least the quartile marks as well - again, just so we have a clearer idea where our daughter stands.
Thanks! -

The overall median GPA and percentiles are not published. The school might brief the students on the results at a later date.
Yes, the GPA is calculated as an average of the GPAs of 7 subjects. The computer was probably confused by your dd's grades bec there were no scores for the first half of the year. -
Can I know what is RA in RGS? What are the various RA offered?
What is the purpose of different RA and are humainites RA harder to go through or is it science?
Thank you. -

Thanks!
Third lang grades can be used in place of one of the other humanities, ie lit, history or geog. Your results slip would have calculated the best GPA for your daughter's subjects.
There is no 3.4. There's just 4.0, 3.6, 3.2, 2.8 etc; 0.4 mark differences between GPAs. -
Heard RGS has this \"most improved awards\" for the girls.
I think it is a nice move from the school.
Out of curosity, what's the qualifying criteria? -
Can someone advise me in RGS year 1, how does one apply to be selected into the Music elective programme? Is it just an audition and can it be any instrument?
If selected to be in the programme, is it necessary to choose a CCA related to music and go through more auditions? Thank you. -

Raffles Academy, something like advanced class! Each class size varies depending on the subject, but there's usually around slightly less than 20 people. There's RA for every subject actually, except for social studies and English (there's Lit though, and chinese). Can I know what is RA in RGS? What are the various RA offered?

I believe all RAs look for different things and there isn't one that is easier to get through

My classmates said quite a few students encountered the problem of 0.0 GPA but it was just an error
If I'm not wrong they compute results by L5R2 - 5 core subjects composing of MT, EL, Math, 1 Humans, 1 Sci, and 2 relevant (eg. Lit, Hist, Geog, 3rd Lang etc).
My friends all had differing GPAs and my class as a whole seems to have quite a great range of GPAs ranging from 3.3+ to 3.9+. Not sure if anyone got a 4.0 in our class, but I'm quite definite there were those who got 4.0s. I personally got a 3.94 because EYAs pulled my HCL score by a lot. -

If I am not wrong, on reporting day, there would be forms given out to the students to apply for these programs. That was what happened during my year a few years back. If not, you could always ask a teacher about it during the day itself. ^^ I received a ring file on reporting day with the forms, booklist, etc.
For my year, it was an audition and you could play any instrument you like. However, I can't be sure if this process has changed. I do know of friends in MEP who pick up another instrument in MEP though, like they do not play the instrument they audition with in concerts and such. ^^
If selected in the programme, I do not think its necessary to choose a CCA related to music as I have two friends who were in a Sports CCA despite being in MEP. However, I am not sure if they would be encouraged to join a Music CCA.
Hope this helps! ^^
