I'm one of those who fall in this aspect. Keep believing that my kids are great and sometimes thinking they are really genius.:| But, life is a journey and we don't really know what the end is. An achievement here and there simply does not mean we are great or that we have \"arrived\".

There are always late developers, less privileged but more talented kids who have yet surfaced. (一山有比一山高)When they do, we must learn to take the \"humble\" pie. Sports has taught me that, no one is really the greatest, by the same token, no one is really the under dog forever.

So my kids look good so far, but we are far from success. The key is to keep at it. The end is still so farrrrr away...

Ha ha... just one of those silly but honest thoughts... And, it is really greater to be ordinary than special. But let's not stop at that.
Your thoughts are far from silly but enlightening as usual. 🙂

It's human nature for parents to look and think upon their kids as geniuses. And I think they should cos every kid is indeed very special. I believe that's what my mom think of her children too. 😉 But it takes a down-to-earth parent to understand this - To those who have made it good so far, there's no place to be proud, no past success can guarantee our future. :celebrate:

        Hi En,

Yah, it has been a nice long winter 😉 Wish I could sleep a little longer. But you just have to stir me up with this interesting and motivational topic, huh? 😛
Well, it's from the mistake we realize that we aspire for the change.
:celebrate:

:rotflmao: Me too!!! But when I show him how to play, he  . But at least he understood what I meant.

          Hugs to you 2ppaamm. :D
Can't our kids be just a little more docile? :stupid:

pssttt... daisyt, I already declare, if son reaches grade 8 mummy also grade 8 but just minus the certificate. So.... has your lesson started yet?

I not as good as you, can declare same grade with ds. I simply want to learn to enjoy and relax

*faint*. Grade 5 or even grade 6, I still can cope, but never grade 8. My ds doing gr 8 violin, and the standard is quite a significant jump. I started violin at 39, leh. The co-ordination for fingers/bowing is really not the same as for kids, I'm afraid, no matter how hard i practise.

Piano no problem. Even though I rarely play in the last 20+years, when I get down to practising, I can get it. Relatively easy pieces up to grade 5 or 6, i can even \"wing it\" just by sightreading. Higher grades, I'd practise, but I hate to do that, so if it needs too much practise, oh well, I just won't bother. Haha. Too lazy and lack of time esp with a baby in the house.

So no, i wouldn't even bother to challenge if it's violin. For piano yes, I can.

So it's true that it's more difficult to pick up violin, huh? Think I better give up the idea of getting a full size violin. 😐

Hallo, judging from the rate your son is learning, he will be playing higher grade pieces once you get him a good teacher 😄

                  Ganbatte!

Actually, I gave up on the violin, too. Not because it is harder but my neck hurts so badly having to use that 1/4 size violin and I feel so retarded... so I gave up, as I just cannot see my fingers that are so near :stupid: . My child also quit NAFA when I gave up. I should have bought a full-sized for myself. Didn't have the foresight then. Sigh!

That violin still sits there untouched for the last 7 years.

I cannot stand the neck ache! 😢
Even if i play it even for a while, the whole of the next day i would
be going around with my neck tilted to one side like kena one tight
                      slap from husband lidat. 😛

Still not too late. My friend's kids also gave up on their violin when young, but picked it up again in their teens.

So, go get yourself a full sized violin! :ugogirl:
