In my opinion, give others a chance. Get one prize is good enough already, best subjects give to other students.

The last practice with former principal was very bias. Clever means clever, pity the last class students , never even being recognize any effort. Also prefects were all from the first class. Never even give chance for the last class students. Die die , head prefects position must give to siblings.

Now with the current P, at least a bit fairer, the last class students have the chance to go up the stage with their parents. Great encouragement. But still don't like the idea giving Head Prefects position to siblings. I see other schools like ACS, Monfort head prefects very solid. Real voice with command. Unlike the head prefects in this school, so soft, very embarrassing.

Agree that the top pupil will usually bag all the prizes for best subjects too except for different HMT.
I believe top pupils in the cohort are not only intelligent but also put in their best effort for every subject so it's not within their control to leave some prizes for others.

I also prefer the changes made by the current P. All the top pupils from every class should be recognised for their efforts since the school always emphasizes 'Not some but everyone'. Morever, many more practice papers are given to prepare the P6s for psle nowadays as compared to the past. :salute:

Actually majority of the prefects are from the first class but not all. I thought nowadays prefects are selected based on self-recommendation? Not sure though.

I don't understand what you mean by head prefect positions are given to siblings. Maybe it was just a coincident. Are you referring to the case whereby the siblings' parent was a parent volunteer then? I don't see it as a continual trend though.

Even the winners for the school’s ‘spelling bees’ get trophies, the more this group of pupils should deserve it. The trophies need not have the the pupils’ names engraved but a general description should suffice.
I am still keeping those trophies I won during my school days for sports & they brought back lots of fond memories. Books don’t last for decades, IMO.

As for prefects given to siblings, since you mentioned that the mother is a parent-volunteer. YES, you hit the eye-bull. Now I recalled that their mothers are parents volunteers. If I knew earlier, I will make a protest. Wonder which teacher knows these mothers so well that both or three of the children can bag the head prefects title.

I knew one mother sponsored umbrellas for the sports day few years ago. Both sisters were head prefects, class monitors, leaders, etc. Their uniforms were full of badges on top of their name tags.
Now in sec sch, they were not even famous at all. Not even prefects or leaders.

Oh, really? Actually I am not surprised. Some PVs here carry a lot of 'weight', don't they? While I appreciate that there are many PVs who genuinely help the school in many areas but there are a couple of black sheep who are there with ulterior motives. Hopefully, after the incident (read in earlier pages) that happened this year, the leaders will be more objective about the suggestions made by non-PVs against PVs.

The prize winner will be asked to choose from a pile of story books before the Speech Day. Once my friend's child spotted a book that greatly interest him but unfortunately the price of the book is beyond the budget given for his position won. :stupid: He ended up choosing a kiddie story book which he felt embarrassing to show around.

But that happened during the former P's time. Now that their are more prize winners, I hope the situation will not worsen...

Some PVs carry 'heavy weight', well may be that is their passion. But choosing head prefects die die must be from her children meh? The younger one cannot even perform. Unless both kids are very 'solid', we are happy for them. Why so difficult to choose head prefects mah?

P3 class banding should be by total subjects score during my child time. DC is p4 this yr.


I need to check, how is P4 band? My dc only said band by EL score, seems like
EL band 1, get into 5A?

Any lights to share? I am puzzled.

We are glad we are out of this school. If we have another child, we won’t put him/her to this school. The school’s culture is just so ‘mismatched’ to ours. Our observation is that teachers are out to please THE BOSS.


Also, during an incident where a pupil was caught pilfering from Daiso in RV Mall, BOSS’ learning point to the pupils - if you want to disgrace yourself, pls don’t wear the school uniform.

Another time, pupils were told to participate in a MOE’s survey about the school’s facilities, results were not to BOSS’ satisfaction, BOSS lectured pupils for giving truthful feedback and pupils were told to be ashamed of themselves.

Teachers are highly stressed which resulted in hot tempers and passing on of such stress onto the pupils / taken out on the pupils at times. Homework can be given out today and expected to be completed by the next day because teacher was absent for days and needed to catch up (and as some parents pointed out, these were never marked).

To ask to meet the BOSS is like asking to meet our PM. The office staff would ‘interrogate’ you and we still didn’t manage to meet him because he is always in meetings. Very different compared with old P’s open door policy where parents were often told and could just walk into his office to meet with him.

Heard last year’s crop were much worse than the ones before. Fewer pupils scored well enough to go to top sec schools, with none to RGS, only 1 to RI.

Anyway, things may have changed, but just sharing our experience.
