      2Transformer:
This is my son dream school. I just want to know whether a student must be catholic to be eligible to enrol for Catholic High School? We are not catholic but merely buddhist. His class teacher posed this question to my son. That's why I need confirmation/feedback from the parents/students in CHS.

The student does not need to be a Catholic to study in CHS.. In fact, many boys are from non-Christian families.. There may be prayer sessions during the morning assemblies, but the non-Catholic boys can choose not to join in the prayers (just be quiet to show respect)..

Why will the teacher posed this question? All schools in singapore are open to all regardless of religions...... The teacher should know this as a fact.....

Possibly a truly misinformed soul, or strategically casting doubts in order to discourage. My boy's primary school actually want to retain most of them as it was a full school - they want the boys to go on to the secondary section.

I'm Buddhist as well, you don't have to be a Catholic to be enrolled.

2Transformer: BTW, I thought the choice of word you decided to describe ‘mere Buddhist’ was rather self - derogatory. It’s your religion and identity. There’s nothing to put anyone higher up in any pedestal by being Catholic, or Christian, or any other. I’m a free - thinker, and I respect every other religion as they are.

well, some see Buddhism as a philosophy, a way of life and not a religion.

Don't think 2Transformer looks down on her own religion.. As she may have thot that all boys at CHS are Christians, she just humbly states that her family (including her DS) are Buddhists..

2Transformer.. Your DS is in P6 this year? He plans to join CHSS next year? All The Best to his PSLE results !! 😄

Thank you for your understanding, firefly38. FYI, my son is in P5 this year. Less than one year to go...PSLE 2014. 😄
