Thank you...I think most of the secondary schools threads are quite quiet. It could be parents no longer keep close tab on their children unlike when they were in the primary schools. Thus parents may not have much to share too.
With regard to hcl or normal chinese, you may want to talk to yr boy's chinese teacher or you could start a thread on Hcl/cl for year 3 n 4. Perhaps, other parents whose child is not in ri may be able to provide some views on this matter.
Personally i would look at the percentile for his hcl grade before i make the decision. I think equally important is the child's decision whether he wishes to take hcl or cl. All the best.
I talked to ds - he eventually wanted to continue with HMT....said he really wanted to clear it at 'O' levels. Talked to his tutor - I will have to immerse him in not just reading but also listening - coz we speak Eng all the time at home...he's not immersed in Chinese enough for him to get used to the language. So he started watching Chinese TV series yesterday and picked up some vocab. Hope his perseverance will last....and not burn out. His tutor also recommend him watching '星期二特写‘ and Friday's 焦点. Now is the best time to do so as it's hols. -

Thank you, seaglass..
wow, congrats to your ds, Firefly38!! :rahrah:
is he taking up any RA subjects too?
No.. DS is not taking any RA subject in Year-3.. He was offered RA in one of the Humanities, but didn't accept it.. DS only wanted Bio or Chem RA, but...
DS says he will try again for year-5.. Can he ? -

Kaypoh here a bit. There were some in my DD's class in RJC who did not do RA in Sec but got in in JC. Just have to sit for test. Also those from JAE. -
Thank you very much, angell..
I'm a pretty ill-informed mom.. I trust DS to make his own decisions, most of the time.. -

I think yr son has made a good decision. With a good attitude, I am sure he will clear the hcl exam at O level.
Thank you...PiggyLalala:

Are you referring the selection test for the h3 papers at A level? May I know when are such tests conducted. Thank you. -

No worries, my friends' DSs also don't tell them anything, DDs usually will share more with their Mums
(except maybe about BGR?....)

I was referring to the selection tests for RA at the start of J1.
H3 is taken at J2 and if I am not wrong, apply with J1 results. Gotta confirm with DD about this. -

Do the current RA students continue with the RA at j1 or they have to apply and sit for the selection tests again. -
Hi Piggylalala, the current RA students have to take the RA selection test again to qualify in JC.
