So, seralee, what kinda kick do you get out of posing as a parent with 1 girl and 1 boy and promoting nygh? 🙂

But thanks to you, now I know all those that come aboard recently onto hci or nygh thread with just 1 to 3 posts are likely to be kids like you.

You sounded more like an imposter, rain. For some reasons, your posts are all cynical or malicious towards HCI and NYGH. So my guess is you are either one of the followings:

      1. A childish and angry kid studying in one of the two schools.
      2. A malicious kid/parent from another competitive school.
      3. An angry parent whose kid has fallen off the IP track in either of these schools.

Whatever you are, smearing the schools black will not win you any respect.

        GLORYmum,

There is no retainment or retention (whichever that is) for sec 1s. Apparently, those who got msg of more than 4 didn’t do the FAs either. I think they are more for students who had missed the papers for some reasons eg. MC.

        eagerdad1999,

You should have the 4th option: none of the above.

The fact is, I usually have something to say about schools I know, including RI and RGS, just that they are none of my business. Rather than fawning over the schools which many are already doing, I prefer to offer the alternative view which the minority might be experiencing.

I doubt you are a genuine parent. I am not sure why you say that I am cynical or malicious towards HCI and NYGH but I don’t type in anger or bitterness. I just have questions for the schools sometimes and throwing them out in the forum usually helps to clarify some of my doubts eg. why HCI does what it does. I am concerned about HCI as the ex-HCJC girl does offer a very real and frightening insight of what happens to the not-so-competitive children. It makes me wonder if such a culture is healthy or beneficial to the children and I have doubts if it is good for my own kid. I prefer to question things than to accept things for what they are.

Oh, and about seralee, I know she is a kid posing as a parent because I read hci-ny confession page. We are kiasuparents because we are not stupid too!

          Rains,

Sorry but I don't quite understand your post even if sera lee is not a parent but a kid.

            Hi rains,
Yeah, heard from my dd there won't be retention in sec 1 but just wondering will school make the kids with msg greater than 4 take FAs in order to meet the promotion criteria.
            Thanks.

There's a girl in dd's class who didn't get back her report book on results day. She told friends that she has to take FA. (don't know how true though.. cos she could be just kidding .. not sure) Btw, she didn't miss any of the papers. No one dare to ask her further ...

                Thanks for sharing, elkniwt.
Hopefully no one will be retained and the girl will be promoted to Sec 2. :xedfingers: 🙏

A very warm good morning to all the parents, students and alumni of Nanyang Girls’ high school.

I am writing a private journal on prestigious schools and what makes these schools stand out. I can’t succeed without first hand inputs from you. I will appreciate if you can share your views / opinions. Here are some specific areas that I am interested in.

                      1. Why did you (or for your daughters) choose this school? Give me a one-liner please.

                      2. After their school life is over, what do you believe your daughters will possess more than those girls who did not attend Nanyang Girls’.

                      3. How is this school ‘academically’ different from other local schools. Do you find any difference in the way the children are taught and accessed from other schools.

I thank you all in advance for your support. I assure that all your inputs will be treated anonymously and will not be directly quoted in my journal. Please make sure your answers are fair and honest. You may send me private message if you prefer. I request you not to use any abbreviations while giving your inputs.

                      Thanks again.

                        Hi proudmum,

In sec 1, the girls will take bio physics chem as one subject known as combined science. The order of which subject to start with in the beginning of the year will depend on different class e.g. Some classes start with bio in the beginning of the year when others start with physics.

                        Cheers.
