If the school does consider the welfare of the children, they may put the more experienced ones in the P1, P5 and P6. Whether teachers are good or not, it really depends on their passion and dedication towards teaching. Sometimes, schools put the SAME teacher in the SAME class for years because they believe that consistency (again!) help the teacher to better manage the class and thus produce better results, not so much that he/she is the BEST. That's because, not many schools are willing to risk the BEST PSLE class! :lol:donkey:
Is it true that only good classes got good , committed teachers?
I don't think so.
Someone whose child was in CH6 a year before my boy told me Ms Ivy used to take CH6 for many years. In her opinion, she is the BEST teacher for PSLE pupils. Mr. Tan took CH5 (2008), then followed the class up to CH6 (2009). This year, another teacher has taken CH6. Mr Tan has taken another class. Knowing him, I dun think he will put in less effort just becos the class is not CH.
I recalled my dd telling me that one teacher was taking a core subject for both the CH 2 and Wisdom 2 last year because in my ignorance and haste, I told her to do well so that she could go to a good class and have good teachers....;-P :oops: -

I certainly hope my child will be so blessed to get great teachers who motivate and care beyond academic achievements throughout her learning journey.

Talking about great teachers, there is one I personally encountered and she was really superb. She was my child's FT last year. Mrs. Chang-Ho Mei Ying.
As my child was transfered to ph mid last year, Mrs Chang took upon herself, her own time and effort to cover the 1st semester work (different syallabus from ex school). She cared for the class, not limited to just scores and points on the core subjects. She was very sponstaneous to motivate and cheer kids on, at the same time, strict in enforcing rules and regulations. I was told tat she was a great disciplinary master in South View before she became a tr in phpps.
Any parent with kid in Fa4 this year, you are in luck. -

Mr Tan is the FT of Hope 6 this yr whereas Mdm Ling is teaching M3. My dd (Hope 6) likes all her teachers except Mr Woon -

My dd likes her too though she was not taught by her. I had spoken to her before and found her very approachable and sweet. Will make a mental note: Mr Tan Chia Seng and Mrs Chang-Ho Mei Yin. It's too early for me to comment on my dd's teachers this year but based on my dd's feedback and class encounters, her teachers are the stable and steady type.Talking about great teachers, there is one I personally encountered and she was really superb. My son’s form teacher this year is Mdm Chen…she taught Charity last year. His Eng teacher is Mrs Samantha Lee. Very strict, which is what I like.

I think I have to adopt the same punishment for tingxie too. Otherwise my son won’t bother to memorize. I don’t need him to go to the top few classes bcos I know my son is not able to do so. He is in Kindness 4. I just want to see effort and hardwork put in. -

Just this morning I wondered if we have been spending too much time in memorising the moxie at the expense of other areas :oops: -

This is what I did with my dd. I will read out the passage to her first, after that we'll see which are the characters she cannot write, then she'll learn to write them. After that, she will memorise by remember a set of numbers which consists of the number of characters before a punctuation mark. So whenever she writes, she'll count by making sure she writes all the characters before a punctuation mark (can be comma or fullstop). The first passage was 2,8,11,6,10. I will review another two times with her on separate days (once definitely on TingXieMoXie day). The number system seems to work, because she could still remember the first Moxie while she was learning the second. She would also compare the number of characters for each Moxie, the second one was slightly longer (2,10,6,7,13). Will my method help to cut down some time for you?janet_lee88:

Hope these teachers teach my girl class..
