Mystery of the Missing Prize-Giving Ceremony Photos

I just returned from the prize-giving ceremony... My kid was performing... Many anxious parents were trying to get as near as possible to the stage to snap pics of their kids receiving prizes... Mcee reminded parents there are professional photographers engaged to take pics of prize winners and performers... But get this... over the years, no offer has ever been made by the sch for parents to order any of such pics!!! Where did all the pics go? LOL...
What a JOKE of the day! Haha...

Btw, do u get to attend the event if ur child is performing on stage but not receiving prize?
Am sure it's just an unfortunate coincidence, have seen the p going around talking to students myself. 😃 am quite sure the Anderson spirit n culture is still there. 😃

oh when was that... 7 am? 1 pm? i don't see P around. Maybe only get to see her only Prize Giving Day. Even when there is forum for parents, only see VP but not P, P only \"appear\" when is time for her to present gift to the speaker and that \"disappear\" again. Even students also say that they don't see P.

think the Anderson spirit will be gone soon....

Have seen a few times during p1 p2 recess. Not sure about the morning session cause I'm not there in the morning usually.
Normally parents will not be around during the recess so it make sense that the P be around before or after school right?

I can still remember my Pri Sch Principal who will stand infront of the whole sch every morning to give speech and discipline. Can feel his power!!!

Does anyone know how the P2 CA2 and SA2 result was computed to overall mark? Eg, if CA2 is 90 and SA2 is 94.9, how it comes out overall mark is 90.0.?

I'm interested to know as well. Also, the SA2 results in the result slip is also not the marks in their SA2 papers. How are all these computed? I've tried to call the teacher but to no avail. Why can't they be more transparent? Why can't they just show us what the overall mark comprised of and how it's being calculated, instead of parents guessing. The detailed computation need not be in the report file if there's too much information, but just for parents' info.

How can we be sure that the overall marks are added up correctly.

Does anyone know what is the rationale that the students’ composition papers, both eng n chi, are not given back to students? Is this the same practice in other sch in S’pore? Other than the fact that the marks given by teachers are very subjective, I can’t see why the papers can’t be returned to students for keepsake. How happen to all those papers in the end??

Dear parents, is Anderson really that over-rated? And for those complaints and concerns which have been shared in here, did you guys feedback to the teachers/school?

My boy will be in P1 in 2016 and we have initially decided to enrol him in Anderson when the time comes for registration. However, I'm having second thoughts now as I've read quite a number of negative reviews of the school in this thread and am getting increasingly worried. We recently shifted to AMK as we had set our sights on Anderson Primary. So it's kind of disappointing and worrying to read unfavourable reviews of Anderson. 😞

Every school has its own exam-related procedures, like whether to return this paper or that. Composition papers, or Paper 1, are sometimes not returned because they can be relooked again and  the marks can be readjusted in very special cases if need to. The other papers’ marks are more or less set/fixed once marked.

As for why the CA2/SA2/overall marks differ, that’s the weightage /percentage issue. Certain percentage of the  CA1, SA1 & CA2 etc will account for the overall mark. To find out, it’s always good to check with the class teachers. I’m sure the school will be transparent about such issues. My daughter’s school has always been transparent about the weightage so I know how the final mark is derived.

I would say not to sweat over all this stuff. It’s really just a matter of checking with the school. Anderson pri is definitely a good school. I’ve many neighbors whose children are in this school and they are happy children! Like I said every school has its own SOP. And for parents deciding pri school for their children, other than the distance, you should be looking at the programmes the school offer etc n not so much about the computation of marks, uploading of photos, etc.

My boy in p2, the school did gave a very clear breakdown of the assessment components in the feb's newsletter. As part of the implementation of the holistic assessment, they have quiz/test each term n it carries certain percentage in the overall result. sa2 carries only 40%(Maths as an example). So it is an 'over the one year' result rather than just based on sa2 paper.
But in upper primary, sa2 will weight 70% of the overall result.

Gave the weightage breakdown in feb newsletter n expect parents to still remember at yr end? Even so, the sch should hv done better by giving the parents all the marks at a glance to show us how the overall was derived. My kid didn’t even get to see the marked compo paper n wasn’t told the mark. How on earth to compute overall? Actually I wouldn’t be too concern about the computation if my child’s mark is consistent throughout. But SA2 paper 90+ vs overall 70+ just leaves me puzzled…
