      Chip n Dale:

      Crescent Girls is ok school.

I read with interest the Forum dated recently about this school.
It seems the contributors ( mainly its students as they claim ) are deliberatly promoting very hard this school to the public.
      Gives us a 'fake feeling'.
My daughter said her classmates will bad mouth others from another class.
During recess, the students will be quite rowdy and cut queue. But I guess these situations occur in most schools.
Someone mentioned about seeking teachers for help after school in
      studies issue.
Yes, it's true the students can do that. However, most of the time, teachers are busy with their CCAs commitment that one cannot meet up with teachers after school and in the end, resort to asking home tutors.
It's not teachers' fault, just the school system.
The school O level results have dipped slightly.
Based on 2012 O Level results, Crescent Girls' did not clinch the Sustained Achievement Award for Value-Addedness (SAA) this year.
It has been getting the award for past years.
Daughter feels the school does not really focus on academics as it used to be last time- study pace is quite relaxing now. It used to be more competitive under previous Principal. Suitable for those who do not want to be in a competitive environment now.
The teachers are very nice and caring but too nice that some students take them for granted.
The Principal is approachable and always smiling.
Overall, it's a school suitable for one who wants a normal pace of learning.
The higher achiever students can look for other schools.

After reading the post, I was quite shocked to know that crescent owns cut queue for food. During my recess slots, I could see girls queuing orderly, in straight lines. For other recess slots, I'm not sure.

Sorry for the typo error. *Crescentians*

I usually come to this thread to see if any help or information is needed, this is my main motive.

Hi, my DD is in sec 1 this year.

I feel that Crescent is suitable for your girl only if she is independent and is self motivated.
This Sch is very relax & no pressure… Not suitable for my DD

I am a Secondary 1 student and I have to admit that going to Crescent is one of the best choices I have made in my life, although my life experience is so short. Anyways, I want to say that being in Crescent, a Future School, is full of memorable and enjoyable experiences. This has been by far the most thrilling and fun year of my school years. What I will be stating in this reply is from my heart and are entirely based on my experience.

Firstly, I would like to say that us Crescentians are just promoting our school and we do not intend to give you a \"fake feeling\", even if you feel that way. We are sorry if you have taken our \"promotions\" in another way, as everyone is entitled to their opinion, as this is a free world. We \"promote\" our school because we are proud of our school and I believe if students are willing to take the initiative to promote their school, it is clear evidence that the school has instilled a strong sense of school spirit and pride in the students, which is a good thing.

Regarding the \"badmouthing students from other classes\", I believe that backstabbing is a natural part of life. Some people are backstabbed, some people backstab others. It is all part of a myriad of jealousy, stress, anxiety, peer pressure and a good many others. It might not necessarily have anything to do with the school environment. I am pretty sure that everyone will experience people backstabbing them, even me, and they should learn to cope with it as this matter has been following students since primary school, and will follow her up all the way till working life. This is because we are normal human beings and we are not perfect. If anyone you know has been a victim of backstabbing, my heart goes out to them but you have to understand this is very common everywhere you go and sometimes you just have to have a strong sense of sensibility and confidence to overcome these challenges that you face in your life. I am sorry if this matter has affected your daughter or her friends.

\"During recess, the students will be quite rowdy and cut queue. But I guess these situations occur in most schools.\" I have to say, I am rather shocked at hearing this remark. \"Rowdy\" means \"noisy and disorderly.\" The rowdy remark is half true. Of course we are noisy, we are girls and we talk a lot. However, about \"disorderly\", I believe that that is untrue as the Crescentians I see are not disorderly. We do not push our way to the front to buy the food. In fact, we are quite gracious. However, I do not know what you try to convey about rowdy. About cutting queue, once again, it's a common matter in this world. Most people are gracious and queue up, while a minority will ask their friends to buy food for them. Despite all these shortcomings, the environment during recess isn't really rowdy. It is just noisy but it should be understandable as we only have a 30min break from lessons which we try to enjoy to the fullest.

Regarding, \"However, most of the time, teachers are busy with their CCAs commitment that one cannot meet up with teachers after school and in the end, resort to asking home tutors,\" I have to disagree with this statement. Our teachers are very caring and they always try to squeeze in time for every student. For example, one of my teachers, she finds the students she finds weak in a certain area in a subjects and will approach her to help her, at her own accord. She does not wait for the student to ask her for consultation. Other than that, most teachers will send out Google spreadsheets for students to fill in their names at the slots they are free. More often than not, the students will have a slot. If not, they can still approach the teachers during free periods, which are given before exams. The words \"most of the time\" is wrongly used because all of the teachers that have taught me have time to help me and my friends with my schoolwork. Morever, students will ask for consultations and there is no CCA for a few weeks before exams, so how can the teachers be really busy over CCA commitments?

Regarding the comments about the \"O\" level results and achievements, although it might be true, we cannot just complain about it as the Sec 4s last year surely have been working hard for their \"O\" levels and whatever happens, it is not really their fault that the results dipped and we have to take a moment to appreciate their hard work for our school and not dwell on the slightly negative things.

I believe that the slightly laidback environment for Crescent is ideal for students of all types. It will prepare the students for the future in the long run as in the future, it is about your own independence and choices. In life, most of the times, it is only self motivation that helps you to succeed. Some people might not see it this way, but the slightly laidback environment is great and conducive as it indirectly makes the students develop maturity and realise that in life, not everything will be spoonfed. With this kind of environment, the students benefit a lot as it is not all about academics but at the same time, it's about having fun and being mature at the same time. After all, a relaxed mind does better physically, mentally and emotionally.

In a nutshell, everything has their own pros and cons and it is up to the maturity student herself to realise the importance of whether she wants to dwell on the cons or work on the pros. My analogy is that the school is like the roots and stem of a plant and we are the flowers or fruits. Every part is crucial towards building something wholesome and productive. To end, I want to say that all the people I know enjoy themselves very much in our school as it is a fine balance between academics and non-academics. We have no complaints, no regrets.

Good luck for tomorrow, fellow P6s! Hope you get the results you have been dreaming of! πŸ™‚

By the way, about 62.5% of the girls scored 6 distinctions for last year's O Level. Isn't that a very good achievement already? πŸ™‚

Hope you get the results you have been dreaming of! πŸ™‚
