      Jennifer:

Was at the Open House this morning. Love the environment n spoke to well mannered n composed students who all hv kind words for the teachers.

I was there too! Maybe we sat beside each other without knowing. I was one of those who couldn't stop laughing. Tears of laughters just flowed. The principal is very humourous & witty. But at the same time, he is very fatherly & wise. Resembles my church senior pastor.
Sorry, but the environment is a bit too 'chinese' for my liking. Reminds me of my past sap school which I tried so hard to fit in and memorising history in CL. But I like the koi pond. The school environment has a mysterious feel. Perhaps it's the showers, the dim lightings & the China artefacts.
Fortunately, nowadays sap schools are different. The pupils & parents around are English speaking & they put me at ease.

I did not go early n missed the principal's talk. Managed to attend the Demo Maths class n talked to a EL teacher. Indeed friendly.

The campus has great facilities- fitness corner, spacious canteen, a cozy cafe, calming koi pond. Esp like the Chinese history display.

The students I spoke to belongs to NCC n table tennis. The NCC studenta are articulated, shared many info abt their CCA, the activities, the special programs they hv. The Table tennis students are friendly n approachable too.

I get a good feel abt the students.

            Hi,

Anyone knows if the child can opt to do MEP if he is in the IP track?

Yes. CHS is a MEP centre.

May I ask how many boys (approximately) join CHS via DSA - Academics (eg. Math) ? How many rounds of selection do the candidates need to go through, to be finally selected (eg. GAT, Interview etc) ?

Is the DSA process similar for both the IP & O Levels ? Do all candidates take the same selection tests, or there are different tests for IP & O Levels (perhaps more difficult tests for IP) ?

Is it very difficult to join CHS via DSA Academics, like due to very limited vacancies set aside for each domain/subject ?

                Thank you…

Yesterday the P mentioned they accepted 30 pupils via DSA out of the 180 IP places available this year.
My ds classmate took the GAT plus one maths & 2 written tests (the topic of the written essays are 'Green' & one argumentative essay).
Selected pupils will go for interview. IMO, their selection criteria is stricter than VS or SJI IP academic domains. Unlike Raffles, there is no subject domain.
I don't have info on O lvls track DSA.

                    Hi Dreamgear,

Thanks for the prompt response. Do you know if MEP at CHS is 4yr programme or 6 yr? Is audition required if the child already met the admission requirement for MEP? Many thanks in advance.

Thanks very much, notredame.. & Congrats to your DS' excellent PSLE results !! 😄

Glad to read that you had a great time at the Open House yesterday. Did you venture further in to the Primary section ? I always feel that the Primary side is much brighter than the Secondary side, maybe coz it is on higher ground ? Or maybe, the older boys prefer softer & dimmer lighting.. 😉
