Muffins, it's so nice to know that there are very sensible kids around :hugs:! Maybe in a society like Korea though, the parents think they're being selfless.

Thanks, Blobbi :hugs:! The parents are so 自私 if they think that their own children would like to undergo so much pain and suffering just for marriage proposals and such! It's totally shocking! :x

This one very common in Korea. Maybe not at 9 but definitely around 18. My friend told me that in Korean society, marrying well is very important. So in his estimate, more than 80% of middle class girls have been worked on. In his words, before 18, the girls are usually left alone. But at 18, they're starved to burn off puppy fat, and then sent for enhancements. This can range from facial plastic surgery to cutting off a tendon behind the ankle to slim it. or leg lengthening where the patient has to lie in bed, walk on crutches, go for rehab for up to a year before they can walk properly again.

Really! I found this website of before/after pics. Very astounding. Be prepared to be amazed ...

I think plastic surgery is gaining ground in China too...just read yesterday's paper..this girl was dumped by boyfriend and to get him back, she's going under knife to look like this angmoh actress..Jessica something whom the BF is infatuated with. Sigh..what is the world coming to....too much emphasis on looks...

This Korean craze has been around for years. But it’s great that it hasn’t caught on here. Whew! Not worth all that pain for sure. I’m quite surprised by China though.

I used to wonder why the Korean gals on the street look so much better than the guys. Because like that lor!

It's Jessica Alba, the actress. She acted as the Invisible Girl in Fantastic Four 😎

I think some of them face features are the same before & after. Could be due to good make up.
Good make up technique can make the eyes so much larger & transform an average looking girl to a beautiful swan 😉

I think it’s sad people are going for plastic surgery because of love. Shouldn’t inner beauty be more important than the looks ?

Botox seems so common now, and people go for it every 6 months to ‘maintain’.

                        qms:
Actually, Faye Wong also sends her daughter for plastic surgery, but it is because to rectify some birth defects around the mouth area which hampers her daily routine activities, if I remember correctly.

Hence, we have to look at the individual circumstances, too.
If not mistaken, I believe her daughter was born with a cleft lip. The surgery was for more medical reasons.
