RE: Q&A - P5 Math
concerned1970:
For Q1, the frog advances 2m every day. On the 13th day, it reaches 26m, and on the 14th, it can actually exit, so the answer should be 14 daysPls help me to solve last two pb sums. Tia
1) A frog is at the bottom of a well which is 31m deep. It climbs 6m up in the day and slides 4m down at night. How many days does it take for a frog to get out of the well?
2) Nathan withdrew 80% of his savings to purchase a laptop. If he were given a 15% discount on the cost price of the laptop, he could have put $390 back into his savings account. A) How much did he pay for the laptop? B) How much did Nathan have in his savings account at first?
For Q2, Nathan paid 85% of his 80% savings, which means that he paid 68%. That means 12% of his savings is $390. So $390 x (68/12) = $2210
(b) $390 x (100/12) = $3250
Hope I helped -

AgonyMum:
Hi AgonyMum, am a student not a mum, but I hope I can shed some light on your problemHi, can some mummies help to shed some light please?
1.Neither of my brothers ____________ (has or have)?
Is the answer \" has\"?
2. None of the pupils _______________ (has or have)?
Is the answer \"has\"?
I assume that as it seems that zero person is involved. But some assessment books put\" have \" in their answe key?
Please help to clarify. Thanks very much!
The answer to both is actually has.
For Q1, neither is actually \"not either\" and has to take a singular pronoun.
For Q2, none is \"not even one\", and since one is singular, a singular pronoun will have to follow suit
Hope that helped!! -

HiAnyone can help to interpret a problem sum in my DS SA2 Maths? I find the question quite confusing:-
Mr Yeong had to paint the chairs in the hall red or blue. After he had painted 1567 chairs, Mr Yeong still had another 865 chairs to paint. Given that he painted 769 chairs red, how may chairs were painted blue?
Thanks in advance!
The way I would go about thinking is this: He already painted 1567 chairs, and he had 865 more to paint. If he painted 769 chairs red in total, then the answer would be 1663. But if he painted 769 chairs from the 1567, then the answer should be 798. Answer's open to debate. Ambiguous questioning... -

RE: Q&A - PSLE Math
\"In an enrichment class of 48 students, each student must take at least a language class or a mathematics class. 7/12 of the students choose French language and 1/4 of the students choose French language and a mathematics class. How many students choose only a mathematics class?\"
Hi
If 7/12 of the students chose French and 1/4 chose both Maths and French, then the remainder chose mathematics. So the remainder of people = 1 - (7/12 + 1/4) = 1 - 5/6 = 1/6
So, if 1/6 chose only Maths, then the number of students who chose it is (48 x 1/6) = 8 students

HiHi, could someone pls help with this question:
May had 48 stalks of flowers in a basket. 1/3ā of them were roses and the rest were lilies and daisies. There were 4 more lilies than daisies. How many daisies should May buy such that the number of daisies would be 1/2ā of the total number of flowers in the basket?
(Thanks)
If 1/3 were roses, that means 2/3 were lilies and daisies. That mean shat there are 48 x 2/3 = 32 lilies and daisies. If there were 4 more lilies than daisies, that means that there were 14 daisies and 18 lilies. If she wants the daisies to equal half of the basket i.e. 48 x 1/2 = 24, she should buy 24 - 14 = 10 more lilies
Hope you understand

RE: Q&A - P3 Math
@WCW your answer is wrong. It should be 5832. The TENS and HUNDREDS do not have to be changed, it is the ONES and hundreds

HiCan someone kindly help me to explain this?
Qn 1)
4/9 of a container was filled with oil. When 125ml of oil was poured in, the container became 1/2 full. What was the capacity of the container?
Qn 2)
Zachary is 10 years older than Douglas. in 4 years time, he will be twice as old as Douglas. How old is Zachary now?
How can I draw a model to explain Qn 2 to my boy?He is able to come up with the answer but is unable to explain how he got his answer.
Sincere Thanks
I just wanted to contribute my 1.5 cents worth on this
In 4 years time, he will still be 10 years older than Douglas, so twice as old, but still 10 years must mean that Douglas is 10 in 4 years time, thus Zachary being 20 in 4 years time. So he's 16 now -
