All About Getting Priority Registration

suggest that you check the schools' past years' PSLE results; their history of balloting (for which phase and what distance); take a look see look see at the school premise & students (if you can speak to a few of them), then make your choice.
it is a BIG decision that we parents have to make for our children, thus we should be the one making that decision and not some unknown person from some forum ....

Hi
Bukit Panjang has been consistent with the results and the "hottest". Beacon is slightly more nearer to my place however, it is the first future computer school in Sg…it only started in year 2008…but read up that those teachers chosen to teach in Beacon are highly educated (a number of them with masters)and with passion…really freakin out… -
Hi Kiasu Grandmaster
We can just go inside the school and look see look see ? Thought no trespassing?
Both BPPS and Beacon are like no 1 and no 2 hottest…around this area for neighbourhood schools. -

no, you cannot just go in and looksee looksee.Hi Kiasu Grandmaster

you can however,
1. call up the school to let them know if it is ok if you go down for a walkaround (try to find out the preferred timing) - get the name of the person you spoke to.
2. then choose a non-peak period (eg non-dismissal or non-assembly time) and then go to the guardhouse to sign in as visitor, citing your reason of visit (tell them that you called earlier to seek approval and cite the personnel's name whom you spoke to).
march holidays is a good time; no lesson on, so guardpost people less stress. -
as per what jedamum said.
some schools will do open house as well (usually the newer and less popular school, but not necessarily less capable) -
Dear Kiasu Parents,
I am hoping to put up my boy at either Aitong or NYPS, but we are currently staying outside 2km of both schools.
I am very keen to enrol my boy in the schools because of its academic focus and their strength in Chess. My boy came in 2nd in a recent chess competition, and wondering if I could use this to give us an edge in registration for P1, even though we are outside 2km. Anyone here can help to give us some advice??
thanks alot! -
the registration process is transparent (at least it supposed to be) and this achievement in chess competition is not a criteria, thus it would not give your child any advantage in getting into any school of your choice.
however, you may use this plus other supporting achievement to try to get your desired school to accept a request of transfer (again subjected to available vacancy) after the registration is over.
Frankly, I doubt neither schools shortlisted by you would be interested in that chess achievement. -

I think the sch would be more keen if the parents are PAP MPs, or directors in MNC....
Dun quote me though....

Hi,
thanks! Will heed your advice and aim to get in the neighbourhood school within 1km of my place first.
A bird in hand is better than 2 in the bushes, right?

I think there's a 5th way not mentioned above... donating $$$ to the sch.... open secret I think...
