      Hi People,

Just an FYI. Took my son to We Can EIP last week to be assessed. The assessor says the wait list is 1 year plus! Geez. They have no school bus and expect parental involvement, not just in ferrying but to also attend tail end of classes.

The assessor confirms children from We Can EIP gets "priority" to PathLight in that since they are both in the same campus, they share the same assessors. So the assessors have intimate knowledge of your child, and they pass on such information to PathLight, where they too are their assessors. Hence, your child’s paperwork gets processed faster. This is of course subject to your child meeting all of PathLight’s requirements.

I told her this "priority" status used to be explicitly stated on PathLight website but now, it is gone. She replied she does not check the website often enough and the priority system was her understanding all the time. So do your own math.

Update on pet therapy. Got my rabbits a week plus or so by now. My aspie son was curious for a while. Then decided he was scared of them. So he avoids the rabbits. Sigh.

However, his NT older brother is enamored with them. This boy made no friends over 4 years in kindy. To me, he is the one with difficulty socializing. Happy that he is fond of the rabbits. Just my luck. Aim A, shoot B. :slapshead:

          Guys!

I have a terrible weekend. My boy threw a big tantrum cos his balloon flew away at a party and he simply refused to accept another one as substitute. Also, he recently developed a habit of putting his hand in his pants, so much so that the teacher at yesterday’s Sunday class had to alert me when I picked him up.

Sigh! His terrible tantrums returned recently especially if we say no to him or his schedule didn’t go as planned. And yesterday, I had to drag him out of a birthday party to a back lane to scold him and left him there crying while I pretended to walk away. It lasted for a good 15mins or more, then he sheepishly walked slowly to me and stop crying. Then at night, another episode because our broadband network was too slow to load his Thomas video. I eventually had to resort to canning him. Husband and I were so exhausted yesterday. And is like all our 3 years of effort seem to wash down the drain in one Sunday.

Then on Sat, after his speech therapy, he was also whining when we refused to let him do something. His speech therapy teacher was very surprised at his behaviour because she has never seen this side of him. She told me she was appalled by his behaviour.

Now I hope there is a behaviour management camp that I can send him to for like a week to help him change. Sigh!!

On top of that when he will see bus or moving vehicle passing by he will clinch and do action like getting electrecuted 🤷 .

😄 so cute.... how old is your son?

Turning 5 this December, but at time when he do this in lift or outside people start looking at us like we are aliens :nailbite: .

Just to share a recent issue with our daughter, recently my daughter start crying every time i dropped her to EPIC we guess 2 things

1- She waking up at night, maybe she cranky because of not enough sleep.
2- Or due to her new class mate and she could be jealous that her favorite teacher was giving more attention to her new class mate than her :scratchhead: .
EPIC teacher told us that there was no change in any routine and we were very puzzled.

Recently when we went for year end meet parent session, teacher at EPIC told us they made her wear a jacket with bean bags to increase her self awareness. At that time we realize why she don't wanted to go to school and start crying every time i dropped her at school.

1- She don't like to wear jackets (she like T-Shirt or light clothes).
2- They made her wear jacket with weight.
I don't know how to comprehend but teacher at EPIC failed to inform us this change but they thought there is some change in routine at home. My both kids are none verbal and it is very difficult to understand if they are facing any issue at school.

DoubleE, is there anychange in any routine for your boy at EPIC or home? Any small change can trigger a new episode.

Not sure if this is the reason as he has been asking to go to school but I have to tell him repeatedly that is the holidays and school is closed. However, the meltdown episodes are not related to school leh, it is triggered by events that happened on the spot.

Do you implement rewarding system at home? It helps me and my son.

During school term, 1 star will be given to him per day if he behaves in the class. If there's a complain written in his school diary, then I'll take away one of his stars. Once he collects 10 stars, then he could watch his favourite movie on the weekend. This is just one of the example.

During school holiday, he's allowed to play ipad twice per day, 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour at night. If he misbehave, then the ipad time will be taken away from him and he has to wait for the next day.

Sometimes, the triggers cannot be so directly traced. The change in routine is in itself a destabilising, which may predispose him to being more sensitive in seemingly unrelated areas. This is true even for NT kids, let alone ASD ones. Maybe you can try writing a social story about the difference (schedule, activities etc) between school days and holidays?

There should be a change of routine. Can your daughter draw? You may ask her to draw things that make her sad.

I do. For my 3 NT kids. Do homework 1 star. Get 10 stars, trade it in for a toy below $20 value. Been doing it for 5 years already. Pros: Motivated them. Taught them to cherish their toys bec they had to work for it. Cons: Everything became transactional. No star, no do. Started to compare. Why mei mei do 2 pages homework get 1 star while I do 10 pages also 1 star. Gave me more headaches....

For aspie kid, too young to understand reward system.

Yes, I agree. It becomes transactional. But I think, I don't have a choice. I implemented the rewarding system when he is promoted to P2 because he's getting more stubborn. He was very compliance when he was in P1.

I told my sons (especially the eldest one) that different rules and rewarding system applies. It will be changing every year. Once he passes his birthday, I will increase my expectation.

For my 2nd son (NT), I only give him sticker as his reward if he does his to do list. So far, no complain yet.
