      hi parents,

my girl is P4 this year, going to P5 in 2014. she's been getting borderline passes for her englist tests and I'm thinking of enrolling her in a tuition centre to improve her grades. i think she's weak in her composition and needs help in that area the most.

i've shortlisted Lorna Whiston and L Central. which would be a better choice for her? if anyone has another tuition centre to advice me pls lmk too!

      Hi,

just pm u the centre my kids are attending.

      :?:

Can anyone recommend some good english classes for k2? My boy is good in english so I am looking for those that can strength his language. I tried lcentral PFS but my boy at that time was not ready to sit down to write. I am rather vexed about t.

            Hi parents,

This post is written for parents whom I miss the pm earlier on and also for parents who have problem in sourcing for a English teacher. This year has been a hectic year with my dd's proceeding to psle an do level next year.

Anyway, to answer to parents who had pm me, my friends who had called me after seeing my dd's paper and new parents, this post is for you šŸ™‚

I would really like to share with you my dd's creative writing class and English class. As a parents, put aside the tuition fees, the traveling, what we want is to really see our dd improves and to help give them a chance to score. Thus, we source everywhere for a good teacher. I have been looking for a tutor for ages. I tired the agency, school teachers and tuition centre. But none really help my dd and even those who did, didn't lasted long sadly as tutors come and go for their reasons.

It was then that I found this teacher. I got to know her through the library, she is a volunteer library story teller. From then, I told her advised and wanted to try my luck to put my dd there. We'll, I was thinking at least just try.

As a parents, we look for branded schools like mind champs and stuff. The centre is really nothing branded like mind champs, mind stretchers and learning lab. For me to pay $160 each month seems expensive for a neighbor centre. But guess what, a year now and I am willingly and looking forward to my dd psle next year. Perhaps to some of you, I may be advertising for the centre and maybe in a way, yes, I am advertising. But, standing in the shoe of a mother, I will go all out to help my girls and I am sure all parents reading this will do the same thing.

Thus, I am writing this to share a new way to help our children improve. It may possibly bet eh solution from now on. My girl really did enjoy and it is a fact that there are results. Jumping from 63 in SA1 to 87 in SA2 is may be easy but I am glad she did it in a fun way. I have recommended a few parents from kiasuparents to the centre and the mother told me that the children are improving as well.

So, since I have personally experience this centre and my friends have too. I really would like to share with all of you this. To be frank, I like the small class size of 6 -8, I like the way they don't just throw my dd the composition and let her write or teach her word for word, I like it more as I can sit in and learn. Price is a concern and frankly, having my girls in p6 and sec4 is taking a toll on me financially but, as a mother, what can I do. I have to just scrimp on myself and try to give the children the best i can.

I really urge all parents who need helps in sourcing a good English teacher to go there. There is no harm trying for one or two month just like how I initially thought. What matter most is, we gave our children a chance to learn from teachers whom others recommended. If it turns our good, your dd will benefit greatly šŸ™‚ there's no harm trying, I tried and now I am relieved.

Hi parents, you can try my dd's centre. She score around 67 for her English in SA1 and this SA2, she managed to score 87. Improvement of around 2 grades. My dd took creating writing and English A* there and her classes starts next week. She is looking forward to her lessons. Her teacher told me me that they will be teaching an interesting way to do conclusion in writing, called the twisted endings and questions ending. No idea what's those in detail but so far he results is improving. Aiming for her to score distinction, hahahaha, too ambitious šŸ™‚
