My ds has two frens who stay in Bishan. They like to take the MRT to Paya Lebar and change a bus to VS. Coming home, they sometimes take a straight bus 31 to Toa Payoh where they can ‘koon’ all the way to Toa Payoh Interchange (about 50 mins) and change to MRT.
Hi ilovelaksa,
Did they mention how long does it take in the morning?
Thanks.
I asked my ds. They both stay next to and opp Cat High resp. They usu take about an hr at least to reach VS. Sometimes longer dependg on traffic.
There are VS boys who stays in Woodlands, Yishun, Clementi and Boon Lay, I am oso curious how long they take.
Thank you very much for your answer. Traveling distance is my concern but i like the CCA and the culture. -

About 40 for O lvl track and 30 for IP. For IP3, class range is 24-26.bakerlee:
Hi.
Any idea on class size in VS?
Ds is leaning towards putting VS O levels track as his first choice. But I'm hesitant as i wonder if boys in O levels track will be treated 'differently' from the IP track, as in IP boys will be treated as elite of the school.
Would appreciate any kind advice...
Thks!
All Victorians are treated equally, just that IP/O track do diff curriculums. Student+CCA leaders come from both tracks too. They do prefer to hang out with their classmates in the beginng. But once CCAs start, they are all one big happy family.
So far, my ds don't feel anythg 'special' about being in Victoria IP. If anything, I think he feels esp stressed about the curriculum, hehe. His best fren is on the O lvl track.
Btw, the IP and O lvl cohort are an equal 50-50 distribution for yr1 this yr. For yr2, the IP cohort is half of O lvl's. In yr3, there's only about 70 IP students. So there's still a very large group of O lvlers.
Thks for the info. We have submitted VS as first choice for ds! -

Thanks for the info3kiddos:
Hi ilovelaksa, is there usually a jam in the mornings around that area if we drive ds to school? Is it better to drop off outside or can we drive into school compound? Thanks

We take the KPE, no jam in the mornings. But there are some occasionally if you come in from the other side. You cannot drive into the sch compound in the morning, unless it is raing. But we do drive into the sch compound in the evenings when there is less human traffic.

Hi, my ds double check with his frens in sch today. This Bishanites take 45 mins to VS via MRT and bus. Apparently, the MRT ride is only 15 minutes.

Singapore fastest man - VS boy Gary Yeo

Fastest man’s slow rise to the top

When he entered Victoria School, he joined a talent scouting programme during his Secondary One initiation camp, hoping again to make the track squad.
He remembers running the 100m time-trial on a tarmac road. Again, he was overlooked.
Said Yeo: "All along my thinking was that I was quite fast. So, when I didn’t make it, I was quite disappointed."
He was, however, chosen for the hockey squad with whom he trained for a year.
As fate would have it, his closest friends in class happened to be on the track squad, and so he was encouraged to join their training sessions, but only as a recreational athlete.
And, after some supervised training, Yeo’s track talents started to show.
In his first inter-school outing at the 2000 Schools National Track and Field Championships, he finished fourth in the C Division boys’ 100m.
Over the next few years, he achieved considerable success, taking the A Division double (100m and 200m) in 2003, and knocking on the door of the national squad. -
Former VS student, Akmal Shaharudin, only 18 years old, captained the Singapore national floorball team to a SEA Games gold medal by beating Malaysia 11-1 in the finals in Myanmar.
Floorball is a demostration sport in the SEA Games and will not be included in the offical medal tally. Singapore hope that it will be included as an offical sport in the 2015 SEA Games to be held in Singapore. -
The Secondary One (S1) posting results will be released on Friday, 20 December 2013.

We look forward to seeing all 2014 Secondary 1 students and parents on Monday, 23 December 2013, 8.30am. Welcome to VS, the home of Gentlemen, Professionals and Sportsmen!
