Lockers for all p1 to p6 students, or for certain level(s) only, at mount Sinai ?
-
Go to school:
I think its best that you buy new uniform when your child is P3(end of the year). Most of my classmates wear their uniform for 3 years(including me)before they buy new ones. Some of my classmates don't even need to buy when they're P3(end of the year) because they don't grow a lot and some of them even wore their uniform to P6 :yikes: (quite old but can save $$,uniforms are quite expensive :siao: )Unless your child really grows a lot...then you can considering buying more :xedfingers:JulianLuvsGreen:
I have 2 pinafores,2 PE-shirts,2 shorts & 2 blouses. If you do laundry everyday, its enough.Unless your child is taking a sport CCA like basketball, tennis, netball, she might need to buy an extra PE-shirt.
Thanks a lot.
May purchase another set when collect the name tags.
Hesitate to buy more just worried that she grows up too fast and need buy bigger size soon. -

Not very sure about the lockers cos I'm not even at Mt.Sinai  but in Hillcrest, only P3-P6 have lockers. We don't have to pay $$ for the lockers but if you lose the keys, you have to pay 10 bucks for the loss of the key.P1 & P2 don't have and when I'm in P1 & P2,I tried my best to remove all the unnecessary stuff thus,my bag isn't very heavy.Be warned that your child's bag is gonna be DAMN HEAVY for the first few days
Maybe you can try making your child to only bring necessary stuff to school if she doesn't have locker in Mt.Sinai.Maybe she could leave some of her stuff under the table(my classmates and I always do that but her teacher might not allow)

stay healthy:
:spam:Hi,
Are there going to be lockers in school? I'm wondering how heavy a P1's school bag is going to be...coz I'm also planning for DD to bring a lunch bag/lunch box for recess as well - she eats slowly, by the time queue up for food etc, recess going to be over soon. haha.
Maybe you can try calling the office??Be warned that the first few days your child's bag is gonna be DAMN HEAVY...but if your child only brings the necessary stuff, her bag won't be heavy.Example:Don't make her put so many stationery inside her pencil case.Maybe you could make her carry a light pencil case(made of cloth) and just have 3 pencils,an eraser,a ruler & a stapler.Heavy and big pencil case like Smiggle(very puffy and heavy) filled with 20+ pens is gonna be extremely heavy.I experimented that and the difference between the bag with/without heavy pencil case is really big... :yikes:
Yup,its a great idea to let your child carry a lunch box to school(I have been doing it for the past 6 years) because the queue in the canteen is really long :siao: Unless your child run as fast as lightning to the canteen and be the first to buy food then she doesn't have to queue :siam: As long as you don't use a heavy and big lunch box then it won't be so heavy.I also eat very slow and I'll be late if I buy from the canteen so its good that your child brings her own food.If she really wants to buy from the canteen(perhaps nicer food?),get ready to see other people begging you to let herself queue behind you/begging you to buy for her :imcool:
Extra Advice :xedfingers:
If your child has only a minute left to go back to class, she should stop eating and throw away her food(if she can't keep it) and run as fast as cheetah back to her class no matter what
It happened to me many times(my class is on the 6th floor) and I managed to run past my teacher who is on the way to class :imcool:

JulianLuvsGreen:
Rgps had shown good improvement, compared to past 2 years.Highest Score AKA Top PSLE scorer in Singapore: 275
Number of pupils who took PSLE: 344
Pupils who got into Express: 317 (91.9%)
Pupils who got into Express / Normal: 14 (4.1%)
Pupils who got into Normal Academic: 12 (3.5%)
Pupils who got into Normal Academic / Technical: 1 (0.3%)
Pupils who got 4A* : 54 (15.7%)
Pupils who got 3A* : 64 (18.8%)
Average T-Score: 240
Number of pupils getting 250 and above: 165 (48.1%)
The average / mean t-score (240) is higher.
The percentage of pupils scored above 250 (48.1 %) had shot up.
This shows that Almost close to 50% or almost half of entire p6 cohort had scored above 250.
2013 Psle batch (born 2001) had indeed done very well !
(Clap, clap, clap)
How about the quality passes (a and a*) detail ?
Anyone have ? -

Thank you, Julian.
Some p6 students are exempted from mother tongue. -
GreenBird:
Not many Rgps students go to student care centre, except perhaps for some lower primary (p1, p2).
Because when come p3 onwards -
Cca (s) step in, plus sometimes your child may need to stay back after school, for certain school activities. So, student care not necessary, from p3 onwards. After attending cca or certain school activities, the students will just go home direct.
In fact, come 2016 once all primary schools in singapore implement \"single session\" nation wide -
Our school will start introduce new activities, for our Rgps pupils to stay back, after school - for all p1 to p6 pupils. As to what kind of new activities to introduce, the committee still planning now. Eg : maybe let students pick up some core, essential life skill set, to equip them when they grow up, work in society later.
When 2016 come -
even p1 and p2 may not even need student care centre anymore.
In the afternoon after school lessons end, we want to find new activities, to occupy them.
Hi Jacjac,
On 4 jan 2014 (Saturday) p1 orientation @mount Sinai :-
You may stand outside the p1b classroom.
While form teacher is busy inside the class getting all 30 p1 students to get to know one another, introduce themselves one by one, you may also get to know who are the p1b parents ? They will be standing outside the classroom, peeping in now & then to see how their daughter is doing, inside the class.
Get to exchange contact phone number with some of these p1b parents.
It comes in useful, ESP when u need certain school info during term time, from p1 term 1 to 4. Many p1b parents are from phase (2a1 and 2a2). Since you're also one of them, all of you have something in common, there is much to yak about, to share. Happy networking,
all your kakis are there
What time is the orientation on 4 Jan 14? Is it all P1 together?
Very excited for an always blur parent like me... -
