Hi. I have a 7 year old boy and we're wanting to start him in taekwondo or the like so that he can learn to be more aggressive.

How would you differentiate Taekwondo, Karate, Wushu....all these?
Can anyone give a good recommendation for a class in the East Coast? I live near Fort Road/Mountbatten Rd.
Many thanks!!

Karate - empty hands tats what it mean so maninly more on hands n less on legs - but i hv seen the experts spar and their kicks are solid too
Wushu - beside hands & legs, weapons are taught

My son is into Karate tat was my advice & now he wants to learn mma - mix martial art...o boy..hehe
Have a great weekend all!!!
So have you signed up your son for mma?
I come to know this place \" Evolve Mixed Martial Arts Academy\", there is this program for kids, \"little samurai', i am interested to know the school fees but it's their policy not to disclose untill you took up free trial class & interested...
Have you or anybody heard of this place, do you know the school fees?
I am interested to sign up for my 2 girls age 7 & 10.
Thanks, VT
No VT, he did not.
Yes it was evolve quiet popular that he was suppose to join..I think around $90+ monthly....but he's 18 so I'm not sure for young kids
My son keep changing his mind...now he's into body building...lol
I told him to take coaching first (swimming) as he will need this in future

Sorry just saw your messages… Nowadays, there is no email notification for new message response to our forum topic…
Hi titank, Thanks…You are referring to Evolve? Thanks for sharing… Hmm… dont think I can make it on weekdays too…but will give it a try for their trial session…
Hi swimironkids,
Thanks… wow… body buidling…
$90/ month is quite reasonable… but might be more ex for younger kids…
We were paying $115-$125/ month per pax for swimming lesson in Speediswim, Singapore sports school… $90 is quite alright…
Will go try out the trial session for MMA at Evolve may be after CNY…
We were inspired by this 8 years old girl from St Margaret’s Primary, who is the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) National Champion in the United States.
Hopefully, this can bully-proof my girls… & build up their confidence as well… -

Teacher Barry is good. I like the way he conducts the lessons and how he gets the mischievous kids behave themselves.Dear all,

Can anyone recommend a good karate school for a 6 year old? We tried aikiforest for 1yr but found it a bit boring and not really applicable to real life. Everything was very choreographed… I might as well get him to do jazz dance …haha!
He really liked the little samurai at engage academy but timing and location wise was not good. Evolve is very ex. So on a friend’s advice, I’m looking for karate classes for him, preferablyi n the central or east.
Thanks! -

Huh really ar? Aikiforest is boring? I suppose your kid starts from white belt right? By the end of 1 yr, is there any grading? -
Hi. Ya, he was 4yr old. Went fr white to red then red gold after the gradings. Initially he found it quite run cos there were stories to go along with the different moves but after a while, he got bored with the moves themselves.
Also, very teacher dependent. Teachers Ching Ching another tall Chinese guy were good. My boy was at outram. I find the fact that the parents and siblings are so close to the training area very distracting for the kids.
So for those reasons I pulled him out. -

What do you mean by \"I find the fact that the parents and siblings are so close to the training area very distracting\"? Whose parents? Parents like you who have children attending lessons or you mean teacher ching Ching and the male teacher's children are also there?
