They use normal HCL textbook as others. My dd didnt take HCL during P6 but luckily she still can manage to pass in year 1 although it does push her overall scores down. What to do, have to force her to do extra revision as she also dislikes chinese. The only thing that i not comfortable that teacher dont give the list for spelling and they dont test accordingly to text book order although they teach accordingly to text book.

By the way, just to clarify a post I saw earlier, you don’t have to be interviewed to get CO or WL. I got a CO from NUS High but did not attend any interview, just the test and the camp

Does anyone know when the booklist will be given out?/Does anyone know what the booklist will comprise of? I’m keen to have an overview of how the topics will be taught.

              Thanks!

You should have it on the Orientation Day together to buy uniforms on that same day. It happened last year if nothing changes.

Books aren't that important actually. Recommended textbooks are generally used for reference for a few years, while the actual content taught during lessons will be from notes that are crafted by the school.

A very direct question to existing students and parent of NUSH.

Is NUSH a "study and no fun" school ?
                    Heard people making that comment…

Hi, I'm current a Year 5 student going to Year 6. I suppose I can provide some insight in this regard.

First and foremost, the amount of time that my friends and I spend pouring over assessment books seems to be far less than that of other schools. One of my best friends has a twin sibling in another JC, and this difference is very clear.

Regarding \"fun\" though, I suppose it may have different interpretations. Those in NUSH are supposed to be (very) interested in mathematics and science, and thus find reading on such subjects fun. I used to have fun simply browsing Wikipedia. Some of my friends like to build things in the school Design & Engineering Lab. I'm sure that if asked, we would say that we are having fun, although others not sharing the same passion may not agree so.

Aside from such maths and science related stuffs, people do form clubs for various activities, such as Frisbee. All in all, I would say we are having a lot of fun. I am, at least.

Hi, can anyone advise on the number of school uniforms to purchase? How many shirts, PE shirts, collar t-shirts, long pants n shorts to purchase for Yr 1? Also when do students use the collar t-shirts?

                        Thanks in advance.
