How do you not succumb to temptations?
-
insider:
Yes I agree..nature must come first before nurture can bring it up to its actual potential. To me, good attributes born naturally without proper nurturing is wasted, and good nurturing without naturally born good attributes hits its limitation after a while. A friend I know works with prisoners. Not all of them can be reformed as they are simply born with some limitations to cross over their own barriers. Took her many years and those cases simply have to be dropped eventually and she shared that if not for those successful cases, this is a very rough and tough path to travel for her, very draining on herself.
I tend to believe more in nature than nurture.ks2me:
the only question I have is, you feel that such a focus on one's goal to stay from temptation is more of nature than nurture? Or did I misunderstand your statement?
Babies with so different temperaments, like kids with different level of IQ/EQ.
If born with certain qualities in nature, spend 10% effort can yield 90% reward. If don't have that kind of nature, it is not said that 'no hope' but then maybe 90% effort and yield 10% reward kind.
Some kids are just sensible. Don't need to talk much or talk once or twice they will know what to do. For kids who are not sensible, then can keep nagging and nagging and if lucky enough, can see them inch a few mm forwards.
Above is always my firm belief... (and I ever wrote an about 20 pages research report on that about Nature and Nurture).
Would be good that when you have time to share more about what you wrote in your research about nature versus nurture. -
But your memory not only remembers what you post, you remember what I post too!!!!
There is no need to salute lah. You gave me a lasting impression. Of course I remember. Maybe, that is the reason why, very difficult to shake of that boy, despite your braces and all.

Just an update on silly young chap at work. Found out he is neighbour with the company COO. Before rumour, insinuation hits me, I get his mentor to tell him my age. There! Solve my problem.
I must thank the Giant's supermarket aunty for refusing to give flower to me on mother's day, insisting it was meant for mother's only. I was clueless liao, why there is always misconception. I already live like a hermit, clothing already okayed by dh & son (no short skirt, no low neck). Now I can work quietly surrounded by my well minded colleague. -

Aiyo!! So nice…still got guys checking you out. As for me, I never had any guys looking at me even when I m dressed up??? Only my hubby managed a "huh? ya…emnn…nice…nice"
Pathetic…but there’s one person who sincerely think I look nice. That’s my gal. She says " I like your dress. Can I wear it when I grow up?" Ok, maybe its just the dress but its better than nothing. -

Wah EN, I'm waiting for the day someone thinks I'm not a mother....
O, just share this little nugget. I mix with undergrads a lot, and there was once a student actually gave me a lot of compliments. I have no clue why. Now that years have passed, I understand a bit more. Some of these youngsters, at about 21-25 provide s** services to foreign tai tais for a neat sum of money.... maybe I looked like someone who can pay.... -
:rotflmao: Better to look like someone who can pay... :rotflmao:
:!: Rather than looking like someone who needs it! :!: -
