Hi all,

Like to check if DSA thru sport, will the girls be put in a \"lower grade class\"?
DD heard her friends talking about it....

No, Nanyang has no sports class. The sports DSA kids are mixed with the rest.

Daughter got to mingle with some of her seniors next year and she told me that there are 2 classes for sports -- 205 and 208. However, only some of the sports people are put there; the rest are mixed around šŸ˜„ šŸ˜‚

the sports classes aren't necessarily the 'lower grade' classes. Even if they are, teachers actively give 'free tuition' to students who need help, and I heard there are also pullout classes for the weaker students during curriculum classes! Students are ensured that they'll be able to do well, which is why I chose nanyang šŸ™‚

hope I helped! :imcool:
NYGH does not have a O level class this year yet.

O Level class is starting next year for Sec 3.

My apologies, Rain is correct, \"O\" level class starts next year for Sec 3.

Just for some parents who see this development as negative, I would like to share that it isn't. My daughter went to Nanyang and my son went to HCI. I have seen how this system have helped students who just couldn't get use to the IP program methods of teaching and learning switch to the O level class at Sec 3, and did very well to go on to good JCs like Victoria JC. IP is not for everyone and it is good to have a system in place to \"catch\" them if they fall through rather them push them through and they don't do well at their A levels. Just my 2 cents.

May I know what is the min grade tt the girls need to achieve to stay in the integrated program? And how many o level class next yr? Thanks.
To move up to the next level for Sec 1 and Sec 2, your MSG (Mean Subject Grade) must be <4.0 and pass (B4) for both langs . This means that all your subjects must have at least a B4 or better.
For Sec 3 and 4, your MSG must be <3.0 and pass for both langs instead to match up with HCI's standards! šŸ˜„

For 2014's batches, if your MSG doesn't make it... Well I'll go by level.

S1: Take Foundation Assessment (FA), whereby you take the EOY papers again and try to get MSG <4.0. But honestly, even if your MSG still doesn't make it, the school will let you promote anyway since you're new to Secondary School šŸ˜‚

S2: If your MSG doesn't make <4.0, you have 3 choices
1) Retain but stay in IP
2) Promote but go to 'O' level class (2014 sec 3s are the pioneer batch!)
3) Transfer to another school based on your mid year results
There is no choice of FA for Sec 2s šŸ˜“

S3: Take FA. If you still can't meet the criteria, you can either
1) Retain but stay in IP
2) Transfer out

S4: Same as S3
--

My friend's daughter compiled the entire level's class list! She said there are only 2 'O' level classes with 12-13 people each. They're classes 312 and 313.

Hope I helped! šŸ˜„ šŸ˜‚ :imcool:

The folder contains the orientation prog. for the first week.

No lessons during the first week....so go easy, go light and enjoy.

I'm not sure if it's true but according to rumours, yes. My friend's daughter (in sec 2 this year) thought she had to retain because she calculated her MSG to be 4.5, but it was moderated to be <4.0. Probably because the papers were too hard and everyone did badly.

That's what they did for HCI's sec 4 batch (as I've heard from HCI Confessions) as well :rahrah: :rahrah:

Hi!

I need some advise. My DD had applied the Malay Special Programme, and was successful.

Does she need to register the MSP course or submit any form? There is no form for this MSP in the folder.

Can some one help?

Thank you

The level head mentioned today that for Malay Special Program, pupils do not need to register. The course will be conducted in school for year one. My daughter is also in the program.
