Yes agree.
The whole numbers topic includes further chapters containing numbers concepts (write in words, etc), addition shortcuts, subtraction, higher range division and multiplication, LCM, HCF and problem sums…
Interesting!!
Next topic is graphs in Casco Tutor! -

I thought I bought the wrong level of assessment book until I realized the others all start with 'whole numbers' too :faint: common factors, estimation for addition/subtraction/multiplication. yup chapter 2 graphs, chap 3 fractions. I thought the dip in difficulty is from p5.Yes agree.

but in her 'discover math' textbook, the first chapter is still 'numbers up to 100 000'. factors and multiples only come in at chapter 3. -
Yes true.
Difficulty has already started to build up now in P4.
If kids don't understand LCM, HCF, Fractions and other basic concepts then P5 will be difficult.
So need to ensure that our kids understand these concepts well before we proceed to next topic.
DD1 is my first born, so its a new learning journey for me. I have to read first before starting to coach DD, lest she make fun of mummy saying...mummy also don't know

My kids wrote me off as maths dummy since p2 :skeptical:
I tried reading up but the max I can manage is 4 pages before dozing off :snooze: -
I am a total math dummy, esp with the model thing…bcos of planning revision, i have to go thru her assessment book…but i only look at content page and start asking hubby if daughter has covered xxx stuff.
school reopens next week, and my girl will be in p4. how fast time flies. -

thanx! My kid is using EPH Ultimate Science Guide (comes in lower blk/upper blk/PSLE version) - which I thk it is pretty sufficient.
Science PSLE Revision Guide by Marshall (orange book) is also a popular one.
Also have Science Booster Volume A/B by Marshall - quite easy to read due to the colourful pages, however my kid doesn't refer much to that book during revision. -
Actually I find the model method quite easy to understand and much easy to teach. But my dd is the stubborn type, and her homework reflects her mood. If in good mood, all ok. If in grumpy mood, simple things can also be wrong.
Just hope she changes her attitude.
My other problem is being a working mom I just get few hours each day to coach her.
Just trying to make best of what I have. Rest on gods hand! -

my daughter is just like yours :slapshead: -
Totally understand the frustration. Sometimes feel like :frustrated: :stupid:
A child's attitude really makes a big difference. No matter how much effort we put in, the output is finally in child's hand.
I realized this in a bad way in P3. This year working with DD to improve her attitude in writing answers.
\"It's ok to write like this\" attitude will not work anymore.
Must learn the correct method/way to answer questions (no matter which subject). Die die must follow, If not - be ready to donate marks to teacher.
Slowly mending her ways and
:xedfingers:
Kids are approaching teenage, so need to handle their emotional aspects too (seems like easily offended and sulk around the house).
Wishing all mummies and daddies good luck in the coming academic year! May all our efforts bring positive results .. :rahrah: -
mother777,
why do I find myself agreeing with everything you mentioned?
my daughter sulks at the slightest thing :stupid:
it is so frustrating when time is wasted trying to find out what went wrong.
is it a girl thing? I do not have such problems with my son. sometimes her 公主病 drives me nuts.
