Car decal form is in the folder. It's an application for a car decal for entry into hci to pick/drop ds when school reopens.

We also applied for MSP and the folder contained a letter from moe saying we were successful and that the school will provide details in due course.

Other documents in the folder incl a giro form and some student info card and dental consent form. But I think these can be submitted later when Sch reopens except for giro which is 30 dec.

The staff also gave out the LEP form to those boys who qualified (I think it's Tscore 259 and above, a* for CL). Criteria stated on he pink piece of paper in the folder.

Thanks so much, lexis, for the info. Sounds like we can deal with all these after we get home. What does LEP stand for? DS meets the T score criteria but only scored A for CL and merit for HCL so not sure if he will make it. Either which way, I think he has enough subjects to keep him busy...LEP sounds like some learning enhancement thingy for Chinese?

Hi ngl2010, no we are not one of the twins. Wouldn't know how to cope with another clone of my ds, so thank goodness he is just one of a kind! That one with a pair is another mummy whose kids have chosen to DSA into RI.

For LEP (HCI Language Elective Prog), the criteria is 259 and above, A* in Chinese, A* in HCL (i guess they mean distinction).

I also just remembered they had an AEP (Art Elective Prog) talk on registration day for interested candidates.

Travelmummy & Song22, the folder also contains the orientation prog for the boys, which wil be held from 30 Dec - 2 Jan. This can also be found on the HCI website:

For LEP, lessons are conducted after sch every mon if i recall correctly. And it can be counted towards MSG. Let me go home to check the letter to reconfirm tonight.

Hi, anyone from iSpark (Sec 2 and above) willing to share their experience in the consortium? thanks!

I have had a great time in iSpark. Some people might say that \"oh, iSpark has a lot of homework\" or \"iSpark students have no life\", but if you are worried about the workload, it is actually very manageable in Sec 1, compared to in P6 (because there's a lot of PSLE preparation). But definitely, work will accumulate if time is not well managed. I believe that everyone will have their unique experiences in every consortium and will enjoy their time in Hwa Chong. The iCouncil (iSpark Student Council) will organise many activities next year, so life is not all about studying. It will definitely be fun!

I heard the passing mark for iSpark is higher than the rest, it this true ? Can the student opt out later if they couldnt manage the iSpark program ?

Thanks. [/quote]The passing mark stays at 50 for all consortia. I am not sure whether one can opt out of iSpark. Maybe you can ask the iSpark teachers.

Hi All


My DS will be HCI Sec 1 next year. I have recently looked through his school text books and found that the Chinese novel books wordings are so tiny! Poor DS will have a hard time reading these small wordings… BTW may KSPs kindly advise if those Physics, Chemistry and Math text books are used for Sec 1 only (they are so thick!), or some of the topics will be covered in Sec 2? Thanks!

Looks like we are all set and will just have to fill up a few forms for ds to hand in during orientation. Just praying for no flight delays so we will be back in time.

Recently, DS was approached by RI again for his sport. But we have already bought books and school uniforms so too lazy to change. Hope our decision is the right one even though ds' Chinese is deplorable! :oops: :xedfingers:
