Hello, I am a student from Nanyang Primary School and I appealed and got into Nanyang Girls’ High with a score of 248 ( cut off point is 250 ) and I’m wondering if I would be struggling in Nanyang Girls’ High, especially because I dropped higher Chinese this year. However, my Math is my strongest and I represented my school in swimming, and also got some leadership awards.

      Please relpy
      Thanks:)

        kiasustudent2001,

Secondary school is a brand new start for everybody. As long as you work hard, study in advance, revise consistently, memorise what you should memorise and put in effort in your assignments, you should do fine. 248 is by no means a bad score. Even if other girls are more intelligent, you can always make up for it by being more diligent.

However, you may indeed face challenges where higher chinese is concerned as the HCL at secondary level is much higher than primary HCL. Do read more chinese books, practise compre oe and compo writing to brush up your chinese.

248 is just a number. Don’t judge yourself with that number.
Your score is good and similar to a 248+2 or a 247+3 affiliated kid.
Once you step in, all students start on equal footing.
One who scores 27x may not necessarily emerge as top student in A levels if he/she slacks.
Likewise the 24x kid can work hard and score straight As in A levels.
Further you have an active CCA and leadership roles in primary school and that shows you can balance studies with non-academic commitments. No transition shock for you at all when you join secondary school. Secondary school is not only about studies but also time management, juggling the many hats. You already have that in you.
          All the best!

Any students or parents whose girls are in AEP programme can share your experience as we need to decide whether to take up the offer.

Is it very time consuming? Are the teachers very experience and helpful? Do we need to engage private tuitor in order to score a A in both written and practical exams
Most of all, is it a fun and interesting course that is worthy joining.

                    :thankyou: for yr sharings.
I heard that there was quite a fair bit of moderation done to help the girls to get promoted. Was it true? Thanks.
Not sure about other levels but there seems to be no moderation for Sec 1 🙂

Thanks all for the welcome. Me a happy mommy. My dd even happier. 😉

I need a few clarifications from NY parents/students.......in primary Sch there was quite a fair bit of rules, not sure about NY.
                      1. Is there any policy regarding school shoes? All white or white sports shoes with some color allowed? Need to be shoe laced?

                      2. Hair - ponytail ok? Only black hair bands?

                      3. Watch - any color constraint?

Or other things we need to take note if? Meanwhile, I'll try searching in the school website.

                      Thanks.

                        1. School shoes must be 100% white.

                        2. Ponytail is ok. Black hair accessories.

                        3. Doesn’t seem to have any constraint on watches.
