My dd says a lot of girls in school wear converse with red or black lining, so should be fine.
:scared: we bought converse shoes with red lining. Is it acceptable by NYGH?mama_10:
1. School shoes must be 100% white.
2. Ponytail is ok. Black hair accessories.
3. Doesn't seem to have any constraint on watches.
Thanks
I checked with her on watches. She said the school handbook states that only plain black watches should be worn but she spotted some girls wearing white watches and pink watches, especially after exam, and the teachers didn't seem to notice.
Hi Rains,
:thankyou: -
PiggyLalala:
No, it's not compulsory to choose ug or sports for cca. Clubs are also ccas. In nygh, there's no 'core' cca. A cca is a cca.:thankyou: rains.
One last question regarding cca. Is it compulsory to have a ug or sports as cca? Are clubs considered as core ccas? -
PiggyLalala:
Not necessary. Clubs also considered core. Some clubs have two or training days per week. During competitions or events, there may be more training days. School advises to take just one CCA. Those who take more probably gotta specially seek approval.:thankyou: rains.

:thankyou: rains and elkniwt for the information on cca.

Dear all, it will be my girl’s first day at NYGH tomorrow, and one of her resourceful seniors has already checked class allocation for her and told that she will be in class 102, "a sports class".
Could it be true? Saw previous posts stating that other than GE, AEP, MEP all other classes should be random. My girl is from NYPS but her score also meets the non-affiliated COP. Didn’t go in with sports DSA.
Thanks -
Hi, there was no sports class in my dd’s batch last year.
How your dd’s senior know that 102 is a sports class? -
Hi
There are no sports classes in NY as the girls are supposed to be randomly assigned to diff classes, other than the GEP/AEP/HMP classes.
Some classes might happen to have a bit more girls from DSA sports, and some girls in the same class, who came in via S1 posting, might have chosen a sports CCA.
So there is an erroneous perception that this class is a \"DSA sports class\", simply because up to 1/3 or even 1/2 of the girls in that class are engaged in a sports-related CCA.
It is not a fair statement that XYZ class is a sports class, as many of the girls did not come in via DSA sports at all, but through S1 posting, and they happen to have a preference for sports CCAs over other non-sports related CCAs.
It would be of great help if seniors do not give the wrong information to the 2014 S1s about their class being branded as a \"sports class\". The harsh reality is that somehow, being branded as a sports class has a somewhat negative connotation...
 -
Thanks for all your replies. I doubt that senior might just have the wrong perception about certain classes. Glad to know most classes are randomly assigned. Diversity is good.

dd just got back home from school. She was told that at least one of the 5 CCA choices has to a uniform group. any idea if she is allowed to switch CCA if she is being allocated to one?

They can appeal for change with valid reasons.
