I heard from a friend whose 2 kids are in P4 & 5. She told me that teachers who teach lower primary will be sticking to those levels. Those in P5 and 6 are the more experienced ones as they gotta prepare the children for PSLE.

I know of teachers moving from P2 to P4. You are right, the P5 and P6 teachers are untouchables! We have to be prepared mentally since we let our kids study in a SAP school to face a little more pressure. Take a step back and see whether you can reorg or re-prioritise some of his activities, maybe just need to improve on time-management. I heard from a P5 parent last year that homework was quite heavy for the upp Pri.

Yup, Mrs Chang is one of the tr who taught P2 and now FT of P4. If I compare phpps(SAP) with my child's ex school (neighbourhood school), the difficulty level is comparable for EL and Maths (stressful). CL is much much more difficult (HCL + mine is not using CL as frequent as I wish). Ok lah, I am refering to lower primary in ex school.

My dd paid $210 for gym last year for 20-week sessions, not thru edusave. This year, she chose to attend speech and drama (science expressions), not a CCA, paid thru edusave. I thought since she is still in lower Pri and CCA is not compulsory, it's good to try out different programmes organized by the school. She enjoys them all.

I was reading the letter on CCA. There is a para: \"...for many CCAs, there is a need for full or co-payment by the pupils...\" looks like the school did attempt to pre-empt the parents. However, no mention of which CCA is conducted externally. It looks like the school teachers are only put in-charge of the CCAs but they are actually conducted by external coaches.

Haha...it didn't cross my mind actually. I just thought it's good exposure since she's interested. She has no other outside activities, except piano and swimming lessons so if school offers anything different, it's worth a try. However, I do feel that it's a little lacking in the aesthetics. It is only focussing on the niche CCAs.

I guess P5 is the year that teachers are teaching as much as possible bcos there isn't much time to do so at P6.

Since we have put him in a SAP school, I have to learn that it is like a pressure cooker. He doesn't have enrichment lessons or packed with tuition classes except for Chinese since P1. However, I feel that he has to attend creative writing to help with his compo.

If homework is heavy at P4, then I suppose it will get worse next year. But I want him to drop Higher CL in the hope that he will not be spending too much time. Poor kids.

Yes, some schools try to cover as much syllabus as possible in P5. I understand your concern, my dd is using 'Casco Zoom in Vocabulary for Creative Writing Book 2' by Agnes Ng and Jemmies Siew. She will do a question for each theme so she is exposed quicker to different settings. Once she has exhausted all the themes, start with second question for each theme again. I think there should be books for upper primary.

Thanks for the recommendation . I will check it out when I go to Popular. This book is about creative writing using vocab phrases ? Sounds interesting.

I bought this title 'Boost Your Creative Writing Skills' by Mabel Loke (EPH). It has phrasal verbs, idioms, proverbs and similes.
