thanks for sharing the rosyth interview questions! interested to know how did u answer for this question - " The other child hit your child and your child hit back and damaged the other kid’s glasses. His parents are asking you to pay for a new pair of glasses. How do you think the school should handle this? "

i’m stumped…

i’m staying within 2km of Rosyth and hope my dd y2010 can get in. TIA

I think SCGS is sorting out its PV shortlist now. I received a rejection email from SCGS for my PV application. I'm still waiting for outcome from Nanyang Pri Sch, RGPS and St Nicholas.......

Hi Hwee Pang,

May I know which year your daughter was born in? Mine was born in 2010, and I'm hoping to be accepted as PV at SCGS too. Are you open to sharing more details of your application pls? Like service you volunteered, and reason for rejection? Understand too if you find it too personal.

As for the schools you have listed, I think RGPS and St Nicks only accept PVs staying within 1km. You may want to confirm again with the schools.

Yes too late if you wait until they ballot. You can only choose 1 school to register at each phase. Sacrifice one. Try not to do this unless you like the stress. My friend did this, watched both schools, felt so stressed and paiseh as one of the schools kept calling her to remind her to register while she waited at the more popular one...

Hi Hwee Pang,

My daughter was born in 2009. Submission was last year and selection is beginning this year. I guess your daughter will be for application this year and selection next year.

For my application, I provided and matched our (my wife and my) experiences/skillset against what we can offer to the school. [Unfortunately, we do not have expertise that is really needed by the school...example, computer, robotics, music, drama or sports.]

What I include in my application:
We are currently living in Seoul: So, in the application, we indicated that we are able to help in arranging exchange program with schools in Seoul, conduct cultural courses in school and assist in cultural programs and events for the school.
My wife is an active netball player in her secondary school and won many awards: Assist in coaching of school's team
I'm a CPA an a Mensa Member: Able to assist in school's science and/maths club; Am able to develop a Young Entrepreneur program.
Last of all, I end my application with, \"willing and able to commit to all other duties\".

My situation is slightly unique. We are currently living in Seoul. Hence, our home address will much depend our daughter's school. We have properties in these locations and we reflected the relevant address (within 1km) in our applications in RGPS, Nanyang, St Nicks and Ai Tong.
Thanks Hwee Pang for your reply. Seems like its very difficult to be a PV at SCGS. I don’t have any particular skill set, worked in corporate communications before I quit to be a stay home mom. Oh well, will still give it a go. If I’m rejected, then at least I’ve tried.

Wow you are lucky, there are many choices for you! Good luck with your PV applications, hope your daughter eventually gets into a school of your choice.

For those of you who are interested in volunteering in Rosyth, here's the announcement from the school:
APPLICATION FOR PARENT VOLUNTEER (PV) PROGRAMME - FOR PARENTS OF CHILDREN BORN IN YEAR 2009

The period of application for the Rosyth School PV programme is from 27 Jan to 7 Feb 2014. Information pertaining to the recruitment process and the application form will be made available from 26 Jan 2014.

Thank you.

Hihi! I read somewhere in this forum that SCGS takes in a small number of PV. Perhaps that's the reason. However, your circumstances may be more favourable as you are a SAHM and will be able to provide stronger commitment.

I'm not sure if there is sufficient time to go via the community leader route. SCGS is in a GRC with a wide boundary. There's much better chance via that route....I guess.

Pv will start in July after a briefing in late June…
