May be your finger need to be fast for y1/y2. By Year 3, almost all kind of olympiads training (Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Informatics for only those taking computing from year 2, Biomedical etc ) are strictly \"on invitation basis by teachers:. That's means you must earn your right, consistently high score (A, A+) and doing ok for respective olympiads taken.
Some student almost qualify for all kind of Olympiads but they may also have 3rd Language and thus don't have the spare slots. In most case you either take Chemistry or Physics Olympiads. In Y4, Olympiads classes are further trimmed say from 40 to 25. Again you must earn your right. -

Lucky got departmental approval, otherwise fingers not fast enough to chop the only time slot left.

I spent the hols trying to convince DD to drop something, but no use :frustrated: She has classes till 6pm all 5 days. Also no spare slot for any electives as is, so no module registration for her this year.

Yeab, you are right. There are actually 2 Year 1 students who took the AIO (Australian Informatics Olympiads) last year. They have prior programming expertise (C++, Java ). But I believe most would start off with Y2 computing elective prior to leaning C/C++ and Java in Y3/Y4.

262 for 2012, 2013 COP is not out yet in NUSHS website.
Btw, Open House is on 5 Apr 2014, DSA Selection Test is on 28 Jun 2014 & Selection Camp is on 19 July 2014.
The COP via DSA Phase 2 for 2013 is 257. -
Huh ā¦ kind of remind me of earlier discussions about the standards/ teaching of English Languages and Humanities prormamme NUSH, let me said something about the MPP (Moot Parliament programme) - a Humanities Challenge programme by the Gifted Education Branch for all IP-School in Singapore.
In 2012 NUSH team 1 won the Challenge Shield (Overall Champions) and Best Opposition Team. At the same time, they also clinched the Best Speaker of the Tournament Award.
In 2013 Team 3 won the Best Written Bill and won the Best Bill Challenge Shield (first time for NUSH). They also won the Best Backbencher Speaker, the first time the award has been given out.
So the thought that the School English language and Humanities dept are lacking in standards or quality is not true.
