what's the difference between gymnastics and fitness club?
at most the girls can choose 2 of the CCAs only, the timing are all the same

Fitness club is a cca for pupils who want to keep fit, by engaging in sports activities.
Semester 1 -
Pupils will do inline skating.
Semester 2 -
They will be doing rope skipping.
There is no prerequisite
There is a fee to pay, for each programme.
Today, school gave out registration form for cca.
Dateline to submit : 16 jan (thurs)

For p1 cca -
Tr said cannot join in mid year.
Have to join at beginning of the year, term 1.
Tr said because the coach will teach the basics in term 1; your dd would have missed the basics if she join later, so they don't allow join later, eg: in term 2. They are quite strict about this.
Cannot join mid year -
Because the coach is not going to back track 6 months' of training to teach your dd the lessons she had missed.
The whole cca group for that level have to move / learn together, at the same pace.
For certain cca :-
p1 means - train at level 1 skill.
When move up to p2 - means train at level 2 skill.
If parents decide to skip p1 cca, come back next year p2 2015 then join -
Tr said you still need to submit back the cca form by dateline thurs, 16 jan.

Hi my dd is interested to join gymnastics. She's been taking ballet lessons for 2 years so i hope it makes learning gymnastics easier for her. Anyone knows how the teachers select gals for gymnastics? What are the chances of securing a place? What should we write/attach for the cca registration form as supporting? Thanks.

Our school offer only rhythmic gymnastics. (Rg)
No artistic gym. (Ag)
Other schools like mgs, Scgs, Marymount convent, ai tong, chij st Nicholas, nanyang primary, henry park, etc - offer artistic gym, but not ours.
Our school do not have the facilities for ag.
We only have the apparatus for Rg.
In our school, for Rg -
P1s only learn free hand.
This is the basics, to start off with.
How your move your hands, your limbs, turn around, is important.
Rg is a combination of (dance + gymnastics) skill.
If your dd learn ballet, it complement Rg very well.
Because some form of dancing is involved; Rg only for girls.
After p1 mastered free hand :-
when they go higher up, then they start to handle some gym apparatus, eg: handle skipping rope, club, colorful ribbon, hoola loop.
When come to p3/p4, then they'll learn to handle these apparatus.
Each apparatus involve a unique technique

There is no pre-requisite, if join in p1.
Start from scratch, all learn freehand.
If your dd is those that is active, like to run around type, this is a very good form of exercise for her. Release her energy
Or if your dd is the dancing type & like to turn a bit of somersault, come, come & join
If you need to settle down in term 1, can join in term 2 but not too late -
Perhaps parents or rhythmic gym pupils from (p2 to p6) may take gigima qn above. Tq
FYI
For p1 parents keen to enrol their dd in another "cultural dance" cca -
Tr said there is only one enrolment date, ie. at beginning of the year only.
They do not take in students, trying to join mid year.
Tr said as we are preparing for a performance by the year end, we are unable to accept new members, in the middle of the year.
Thus if you miss joining this year intake for "cultural dance" cca, you may come back next year (2015) to join. -
May I check if we can change the cca later if dd is not interested after joining?

For swimming lessons, since there is no transport provided, whose going to bring them back to school ?

For \"rhythmic gymnastics\" cca selection (pm session):-
Tr said -
if your dd has learnt gymnastics before and had won award(s) before, she will be given priority to join Rg cca.
As for the remaining places left, if demand exceed places available, there may be balloting -
with priority given to p2s, before the p1s. -
the cca selection process does sound a tad bit stressful/competitive…hahaha.
