Is 3 Feb 2013 a public holiday for Hwa Chong ?

Yes, according to the student handbook. You can refer to the student handbook for major school events and holidays.

      Hope everyone is doing well.

Hi, thank u all for your sharing, it’s really very helpful.

However, I have some concern recently. My ds is in class 1O3, it’s quite further away from canteen. He got some problems getting his food during lunch, coz a few food stores out of food by the time he reach there. I’m worried abt his stomach. Any parents here facing similar issues? Any suggestion? And where to feedback abt this? Thanks in advance!

On days with afternoon activities with a lot of students involved, it is best to arrive at the canteen before 1:50 pm. Any later than that, there is a risk that the food has been sold out. This scenario, of course, varies daily.

Having a meal during recess is a good idea. The coffee and snacks stall has the second shortest queue, after the drinks stall. Even a small bun for lunch will last one throughout the day. But if there is really no choice, skipping lunch is survivable. I remember that I have skipped lunch a handful of times last year.

Can they go to the College canteen to eat? Or is there a similar problem there?

I have a question about CCA trials. Will each of the trials take the entire allotted time slot? Eg. for Judo, if it’s stated 3.30 - 6 pm, does our kid have to be there the entire time? or can he go from 3.30 - 4.30, then 4.30 - 6 attend another trial (eg. Chinese orchestra)?

                  Thanks!

                    Hi,

I have a concern regarding the 30 minutes recess. The duration is a little short.
DS told me that he was left with no time to eat during recess yesterday.
They were released 5 mins late from class. It took them 5 mins to get to the canteen. They had to be at the Audi 5 mins earlier and it took them 5 mins to walk from canteen to Audi. So a total of 20 mins was gone. It took him 10 mins to queue up to get food. So he had to chomp down the food quickly, then made his way to the Audi.
Not sure what the school can do about this though…Perhaps for the teachers not to hold them back in class before recess ??

wow, ds did not say anything about the break time, however. He did mentioned that lunch time is very packed. Perhaps parents could raise these issues to the school on the parent symposium next Friday?

Hi Song22, parent symposium is this Fri. You probably wrote 'next fri' by mistake but inform you just in case.
