      Please don’t go to Hotels.com

I book through them for my bali trip. I paid for 4 person / 1 room to realise that they only helped me book 2 pax / 1 room.

Fortunately, its Marriott and the staff was really understanding about my situation and decided to upgrade our room. Otherwise, I would have paid more than what I am suppose to.

If u can find out, there are different comparison websites that do better in different markets. So if you are already travelling in a certain region, there might be one there that's better.

If u are booking from Singapore, there are the usual suspects for reading reviews, and wego for comparing room rates and booking. They search a lot of sites and direct u so u arent technically booking with them, but u get the best rates including direct hotels and agents etc. They have localised travel sites so u can use those when u are travelling outside of singapore to see the most popular ones for that area. For example http://www.wego.com.my/hotels for malaysia hotels and http://www.wego.com.au/hotels for australia etc. etc.

They search other searchers so its handy but still a good idea to read reviews elsewhere before deciding if cost is not your only concern.

Omg really... I thought they were good since many friends recommend it as they usually have lots of discounts.

Hotels.com is a bit overrated. My favorite hotel booking site is a second level site http://BookingHotelStay.com. Besides the great deals it organizes everything the best to find the right hotel for you.

I use the general sites like tripadvisor, Asia travel, hotels.com, booking.com, to decide on hotel that I want, then I will go to the hotel website directly… Usually they offer the best price as they do not have to pay commission… But sometimes if price is lower elsewhere, I will write in and ask them to match… Most of them will match cos otherwise they will lose your booking, or have to pay commission to the travel agent

i use http://www.asiarooms.com and sometimes the hotel's own booking website. I do feel more secure booking directly from the hotel itself rather than these hotel booking sites.

So far i used only hotelclub.com and hotelclub.com/visa. I can choose the currency to bill me which I always choose SGD.

I am very kiasu one, upon confirmation from hotelclub, I will email the hotel and ask them if they receive my booking from hotelclub or not. So far all hotels replied they received the booking.

If you are worried about your booking after booking thru those websites, I think best you can be like me - email the hotel and ask if they receive your booking from whichever website.

                        Agoda’s great! And they have a lowest-price policy…
