Once again thank you for all your help
I have more questions coming along

Hi Mathsguru,
I have just PM you.
Will I be alerted when you reply to my PM and how do I retrieve the reply ? Sorry never explore the website and quite new here, so not very sure how to βmoveβ around.

I think it's fair to mathsguru if the questions posted can also come with the answer so that mathsguru can concentrate in showing the working on how to derive the answer. Rather than trying to spot the mistake in the question itself. Most of the challenging questions we encountered are from assessment books or past years exam papers which the answers are provided. If there is no answer, at least state the source of the question like from which school and the level. So that it won't make people feel that the question is just \"pluck from the air\". This should be the minimum respect one should show when asking for help.
mathsguru I think you should reserved the right to ignore any question which you feel was \"post for fun\".
Chief I think you should also \"punish\" those who do that in order to keep this thread alive and meaningful.ChiefKiasu:
mathguru, to say that the community appreciates the effort you put into answering the questions is an understatement. There are lots of parents out there who do not hire math tutors for a variety of reasons. And when they try to help their children on their own and get stuck, there is little they can do. So a big Thank You for the huge effort you have put in to answer each and every query posted in this thread. Your passion as an educator really come through.mathsguru:
... Anyway, hope you don't misunderstand what I'm trying to put across in my earlier posting. I just didn't want anyone to abuse my intention to help here. I'm doing this voluntarily on top of my tuition lessons, so I really dun wanna waste my time & effort doing up solutions for someone who just post questions for fun. :faint: I would feel very \"cheated\" and feel as if I'm just some silly problem-solving machine... :stupid:
Hehe...that said, for those with genuine queries, I'm very much willing & happy to share/help to the best of my ability. :hugs: Feels great when parents tell me how their children gain a better understanding after they used my solutions to explain to them. Feels like I'm contributing back to the society in my own little way...haha~~... -

Sure... assuming I can rely on the community to highlight the naughty ones

Finally done!

Your illuminating presence in this forum is a blessing for current PSLE students.
I can sense that volunteering fatigue is slowly creeping in. You are getting a bit tired.
First, please do not be upset with Vanilla Cake.I can only guess that she is trying to be helpful in asking for the answers for Q13 to Q18 for P6 Prelim 2009 Pei Chun 2009 as they are not provided in the WS. In her young mind, she is probably testing the water. This may also help her younger sister who will be taking her PSLE in the near future.
For those members asking questions, I would like to urge that you check the archives for relevant questions first before clicking your mouse. I observe that many of the questions are in the databases, they may not be word for word, but the strategies are applicable. Try not to wear out mathsguru, imagine one day, she decides to leave the forum due to fatigue, will members be better off?
And to the young lady, mathsguru. Some fatherly advice, pace yourself, for life is a journey. This sticky thread has given you much exposure in KSP, and greater exposure gives you greater responsibility in giving back to society. I am glad you see it this way. But, please understand your physical limitations; you can only do so much. I hope the exposure in KSP will generate more revenues for you, more parents getting to know about your services and engaging you for your tutoring services.
Last but not least, I would like to wish you, A Happy and Prosperous Chinese New Year. Be kind, be good, and be happy. With your hectic programme, I hope that you still spend some time to pak tor. -

BTW, whereabouts do you teach in Singapore?
Appreciate your kind words and support! I'm just trying to help as much as I can out here and I'm definitely not pissed/tired/discouraged/anything like that. In fact, I enjoy helping out in KSP, just like what other members, e.g. Dharma, have been doing. Just wanna make clear that I do have limited resources (i.e. time), so I can't possibly do up detailed solutions for say, an entire test paper, and post them up.
Perhaps, my English not that powerful, hence this misunderstanding...
To answer your question, I'm a private Maths tutor who teaches at my students' place and at my own place near Potong Pasir MRT (v near St Andrew's Village). Haha...if I may do a little advertising here :politebleah: , I'm planning to form a PSLE Maths revision group tuition conducted at my place on Friday noons. If there's enough numbers, I can consider another slot for P5 Maths group tuition too. Intend to cap group number at 5-6 students. So, interested parents/students can pm me or email me at [email protected] for more info.
Here's wishing everyone a good weekend ahead~~
Cheers,

You're most welcome! Don't worry...there's no quota to the no. of questions one can ask...haha...so, if you post, I will help to solve.
And thanks for dropping me a msg. I'll reply your PM shortly...you should receive a notification by default (I think).

Thanks for your support and for \"jumping to my defence\" (though I'm not being \"attacked\" by anyone here...oh well, for lack of a better phrase)!! Appreciate it, really~~ However, I don't think there's a need to go to such an extreme to \"punish\" ppl here...After all, this started off as a voluntary thingy and there're no rules to say one cannot post this or that.
I guess like what you suggested, if there's any request that I find a tat too unreasonable, I have a choice to ignore it. As for typo errors in questions, I'm totally alright with that cos we're human and we do commit mistakes from time to time, not to say the least, typo errors.
Like what I mentioned in my reply to ChiefKiasu, I'm not unhappy or what...just that this little thought of \"one day someone asking me to provide detailed solutions to an entire test paper\" suddenly crept up in my head and I thought to prevent such a thing from happening, I better make it known that I won't be acceding to such a request.
Thanks for your concern once again... :celebrate:
Cheers,

Hi Tianzhu,Hi mathsguru
Your illuminating presence in this forum is a blessing for current PSLE students.
I can sense that volunteering fatigue is slowly creeping in. You are getting a bit tired.

Last but not least, I would like to wish you, A Happy and Prosperous Chinese New Year. Be kind, be good, and be happy. With your hectic programme, I hope that you still spend some time to pak tor.
Thanks for your advice and wise words. :hugs: I really didn't expect my reply to Vanilla Cake to \"evoke\" these responses from you, ChiefKiasu and KSP. To make things clear, I am not upset with Vanilla Cake. And she's been polite in her postings as well.
Talking about fatigue, I'm still ok...not really feeling it (yet?)...haha! It has kinda become my habit to log on to KSP during my free time to check if there're questions for me to solve. At least, it's a rather meaningful past-time, if I can call it that way. And so far, it has not affected my personal life negatively...still got time to pak tor  (haha, your last statement was really cute and funny!). So, no worries ya...
And you're right, the exposure in KSP has helped me reach out to more parents. However, as there's only me, myself and I, my 1-to-1 tuition slots are full already and it's very unfortunate I have to say \"no\" to several parents who have approached me. That's why now I'm planning to open up small group tuition classes at my place on Fri noons to help more students, especially those taking PSLE this year. Hopefully, I can help \"inspire\" more students to realise the fun in learning Maths and motivate them to ace their Maths in PSLE.
Anyway, will heed your advice and pace myself as the days go by.
Here's wishing you, your loved ones and all KSP members a Happy Chinese New Year in advance...Cheers to good health and loads of smiles in the coming Tiger year~~

Mathsguru,
Based on my past years of forums experience, I feel it is rare to find people who will help the community as you did. I applaude you efforts to minimize \"advertising\" and keeping this thread for purpose of sharing and motivation. I am really impressed with your detailed solutions and little tips to help the children learn \"how to fish\" instead of giving them the \"fish\". I spent >1 hour reading the threads right from page 1 (I didn't previously ). I am particularly motivated by how you cultivated your own skills and passion for Maths !
So thanks for motivating and helping this aunty here. Wish you blissful pak tor time and healthy work life balance !
