Hi, need advice from parents here. Does anyone knows the details of the P3 enrichment progrAmme? My child in P3 this year was asked to attend extra lessons for every day? Does anyone know what are being done during these enrichment classes? Possible to opt out? Anyone opt out before? Thank you very much.

        hi mommies,

tks for the comments on sch bus timings. another qn: do your children in lower primary get a lot of homework and what's the sch's approach to weaker students? i've gotten feedback that rosyth is pretty relaxed for the 1st 3 years, but not sure about HIPS. can anyone comment? tks 🙂

May I know is your child is from the best class? From my understanding, most classes only need to attend 1 or 2 days extra lesson. Some extra lesson only for weaker student.

            Hi Krex

My girl is in P3 this year. Based on our experience, there weren’t alot of homework in p1 and p2. The work are usually manageable and my girl is able to finish it on time. There are weekly spellings and 听写. I only find the HCL rather demanding.

              Hi Mrs Seah

Thanks for replying. Not too sure about best class… My girl did not mention. She has to attend extra lessons on 4 days of the week plus 1 day of CCA. She has to stay back late everyday. I am concerned she will be tired out so asking whether there are parents of similar concerns and had opt out of the progrAmme.

                  Hi Krex
I find the words and passages rather challenging. The 听写 list is long with difficult words but I believe it's because they are doing HCL thus the higher level of Chinese. The students are also expected write short compositions.
My girl attends studentcare but not at morning star.

Hi, my child was in P3 last year and she has to attend enrichment classes on Monday (Eng and Sci), Tues (Chinese Supplementary) and Friday (maths). This year, with broadbase program on Wednesday, and enrichment / supplementary classes 4 days a week, she does have to stay till 3.05pm every day. On CCA days, they will stay till 5.30pm.
I had spoken to the P3 teacher about withdrawing her from the enrichment classes and the teacher had confirmed that there are students who opt out. In the end, we continued the classes as my child enjoyed the science experiments and maths activities done during these classes. She does not have outside tuition so, we were happy to let her spend more time in school.
Chinese supplementary classes are compulsory as decreed by MOE for HCL, so no opting out.

That said, I have an older child in HIPS who was never requested to stay back for any remedial or enrichment classes except for in his P6 year.

                        Hi InP,

Looks like your child is in the same class as mine this year, 4I4?
Yes, it is disturbing that she has a rather long school schedule this year, and I can't fit in any tuition for her on weekdays. She does enjoy the enrichment classes, thus, do not feel the need to pull her out. She also gets a large amount of homework everyday, which at times, due to her lack of speed 😢 can eat into her bedtime.
