33mama:
My DD is also like yours, loves to sleep and sleeps very long, 12 hrs per day during the holiday. Notice she has been spending longer time to do her homework since school starts, so automatically her nap time is gone. Together with the high demands from school CCA activities, supplementary classes, SYF and other competitions training. Don't think we can squeeze any of her time for any tuitions.mistyy:
Hello everybody, happy to find this thread. I have a goatie too! She loves to sleep, she loves to be cuddled. I wonder if yours too? Aside. I am aware that there is a change in English syllabus for this cohort, but not sure of the details. I'm thinking of buying P4 2013 Top Schools English exam papers instead of P5 2013 Top Schools English exam papers for her to practise this year cos P5 2013 will still be the old syllabus, right? Do you think this is a bright idea?
I thought was only my goatie.... my goatie loves to sleep too!!!! Since newborn.... he can sleep and sleep and wake up every only 5-6 hours for milk feed. Until now.... sometimes he comes back from school, he wants afternoon nap... :skeptical:
i wouldn't think of buying P4 exam papers though. I will buy P5. As far as I understand from the tutors... seems not a big change. -
reporting in. DD1 is a horsie/goatie (born before CNY
). She does not have much hw but she loves procrastinating...simple piece of work can take hours  she can write a line, open the fridge to look for food, eat, continue, then daydream before i start screaming at her... :stompfeet:
sigh.. apart from that, still need to deal with her mood swings due to onset of puberty. :slapshead:
she knows she can be capable of better results and that P5 is a crucial year if she wants to DSA into her dreamschool but all is talk only so far...
really have my hands full dealing with her. -

Hi Mum03, my DD has already started to stay back 4 times a week, 2 for supplementary, 2 for SYF and listed for competitions.......Went for PTM yesterday, looks like it's going to be a hectic year ahead. Talk about the new English Syllabus. Told myself to take it one day at a time. Remedial classes for MT as already started! thank god DD don't have to attend. However from term 2 supplementary classes will begin twice a week. She already as CCA twice a week. So in future she as to stay back 4 times a week.
Then in June there is Taiwan trip for a week, organized by the MT class.
Isn't it a bit too much for a 11 yrs old. I am thinking of not allowing her to attend one of the supp classes. Is it possible if I write to the teacher stating that I am not in favor????
Had spoken to the P about efficacy of supplementary class and was told subject will be taught more in depth in the supplementary class, So I will let DD to attend the supplementary for this term and review if it is efficient and effective. Otherwise, will write in to withdraw her out from the supplementary. -

Reporting for my dreamy sheepie
She is still in wonderland, although the load this year seems to have increased quite substantially....
Staying back 3x a week, also starting on 'supplementary\" lesson, although frankly I don't know how much value-add a 1-hour lesson for the whole class can be.
But it is deeemd as compuplsory, so no choice but to let her attend.
Hopefully can seek guidance, as well as pointers from experienced mummies here
:thankyou: -
DD is also still in lala land.
No supp classes yet. No tests either. Slightly more homework but not unmanageable.
Just saw her compo and almost fainted. Told her it is a failing piece but she refused to rewrite it. All her bad habits are back and even though I reminded and cautioned her, she ignored. -
Sometimes just wondering if it's just mine, or generally it's on the onset of puberty.....
My little sheepie seems quite sensitive nowadays....and really mindful of what others perceive her, especially her teachers and classmates.
Even I have to be very \"careful\" even when \"scolding\" her, as even a slight comment can start off a whole episode of cold war. :?
No tests either yet, haven't even seen her compo yet.....
*Sigh* -
All our goaties seem to share characteristic - procrastination. Have to nag and nah and remind. And even then, he will suddenly remember he has homework, on Sunday night.

Mine no need to nag and remind about homework. Everyday by the time I am back, all her work is done. The question is properly done or not. -
