Not easy to find a suitable primary school...

is very hard to tell what is suitable?
do we based on highest PSLE results of the sch when we selecting the pri sch for our kids?
or the distance or other options eg. cca or principal?

        🤷

My view is to know what is the priority when select primary school - near home? Academy or holistic environment? If the child can excel, he or she will be. At the end, they grow up and get a decent job or profession?

too many schools near me is also a problem haha.

              A lot of factors.

School near home is good for sahm who doesn’t drive. If the kid still needs to attend student care, the benefits of school near home is reduced to mainly more sleep in the morning, which people can say the solution is to sleep earlier.
If kids need to commute by themselves to and home via public or school buses, school proximity is a factor. As school buses can come at unearthly hours and kids can sit on it for a long while before reaching school or home. Then again, depending on kid too. Our bus journey is not long, but one son enjoys the chats with friends and will read on the bus against my wishes. The other whose bus came way too early on the morning, naps on the bus. The pressure will be to catch the bus on time for school or coming home as it will then make a big difference in time spent on the road.

Personal preference for sahm who doesn’t drive, walking distance to school is best arrangement. If no schs within walking distance, the next option is to look at academic vs holistic culture in school.

I am a FTWM so near home is priority. Also have to ensure kid get enough sleep during weekday. Not easy being parents

                    Hi all parents,

just want to have some opinions… as my elder gal will be going to primary school in year 2016 and as what I understand now…I should start to do parent volunteer work in the school of our choice. we just moved to yishun and the primary school which is just downstairs from my block is Huamin Primary school. Anyone know of this school? I cant find any reviews on this school. Or should I go for Northland / Chongfu which is one of the popular school in Yishun?

And also does it make a difference in participating in the Hokkien association in order to get my gal into chongfu? or does PV stands the same chance? I understand that both category are under phase 2B.

I am previously from PLMGS and getting my gal to go into my old school should not be a big problem. but it is just too far and I do not want my gals to go through the agony of travelling early morning…

Helpless in making my decision…pls advice.

                    thanks!!!
                    Letaish

                      Hi,

Would like ask mummies & daddies with kids in Anderson Primary, Mayflower Primary & Teck Ghee for feedback on these schools?
In terms of teachers (teaching & caring), CCA/enrichments, after school care?

Also how to check for After School Care in/near these schools or in AMK.

Am registering my son this year for 2015 In-Take.

                      Thanks in advance for sharing!

                        Dear all,

my son is gg Pri 1 next yr, and I’m considering ChongZheng, Yumin or Tampines Pri as they are pretty nearby. I’m impressed with CZ website and activities but I heard that teaching standards is gg down, while Yumin is consistent with the teaching from P1-6. However, Yumin website doesn’t show much CCA & their last PSLE placing for Express stream is only 57.1%
The parent support threads are not active too. Wondered if anyone can help me out. Many thanks!!
