Hi KiddyLowHi ilovechubby
Thanks for sharing. I am also concerned about the amount of homework too. Bringing my son for diagnoistic assessment and hv better understanding of their program first.
Is yr DS attending other math enrichment concurrently?
No my DS is not attending any other math enrichment - however, I am still contemplating if I should continue his Kumon when he reaches P1 or enroll in a math tuition centre that follows MOE syllabus, like his elder bro did. -
Hi ilovechubby
My son went for diagnostic assessment and recommend to start at 3a. Seems a long way. -

Based on what i understand, they will usually start the kid at a level that they are familiar with so as to build up their confidence and train their speed and if the kids can do the sums within their stipulated time, they can move up (the level) q fast. -
Fully understand. Still considering hard.

Wef september 2013, Kumon going to increase school fees!
Is v ex, because most of the time is the parents who supervise the kid’s learning at home.
Pupil just go there collect worksheets to do at home.
There is little teaching, yet they are increasing fees.
Increase from $120 to $140 per month. -
What’s the new fees structure?

I jus went to kumon today to find out bout their programme for my dd (5yr9mths)n ds (3yrs8mths). I intend to put both of them in the English programme.
However my ds is quite passive n although he understands simple English conversations/ instructions, he mostly would not reply in English & prefers conversing in Mandarin (due to caregiver's influence).
In addition, he is vy chatty with familiar people but his speech clarity is rather poor. Hence, many times only family members can understand what he is trying to say. This is also the main reason y he is passive as it really frustrates him when pple do not understand what he is trying to say so end up he woukd rather not speak.
Can someone pls advise given his weak background/ability in English & poor speech clarity would the kumon English programme help him or should I look at other programmes? Also if my 2 kids join the English programme at same time, would they b in the same classroom even if they r starting at different levels? Cos ds would definitely feel more secure if he has his sister in the same classroom. Dd is also a very gd translator for ds. In fact sometimes even I do not understand what my ds is saying but my dd would.
Btw, kumon fee restructuring will b in Sept 2013. Currently registration is $30 & mthly fee $120. After sept, registration will b at least $40 & mthly fee around $140. The centre manager told me final figure will b confirmed again later. Hope this info is helpful. thank u
