Wonder why he didn’t do his MT & GP. For me, those are the easiest papers to sit. Easy because, there is no need to study.

Alamak, I read wrongly already... This was the medicine combo...you must be good! Dr. Phankao?

Wah, you must be from the same \"era\" as me. \"Medicine\" combo indeed. I think only during our time it was known as that! Nowadays nobody refers to it as such. Me ... Dr Phankao? If so, then I took too many sleeping pills liao - self-medicated some more. LOLz.

No such thing as \"Medicine\" combination now. JC students can only take at most 3 of the maths&science subjects at 'A' levels, plus one humanities (our education system is quite rigid .. why can't one take 4 science subjects now, what's the rationale???). Probably only NUS High students can continue to take all 4 subjects up to Year 6 (but no 'A' levels though).

I think currently only Maths & Chemistry are compulsory subjects for the Medicine course in NUS.

Not to detract form his achievements, but the British A-levels are somewhat easier than the Singapore-GCE A-levels in terms of breadth and depth.

                  This is absolutely correct.

In fact, the British A-level Mathematics looks like Singapore O level Additional Maths.

I can’t help liking Haikal just from his photo in the papers. He looks like such a happy kid, not stressed at all and busy winning awards. Like what ks2me used to say, a lot of kids are hothoused/forced to perform, but it’s gonna be hard to force someone to be an all-rounder, winning awards left, right and centre, and at 13 some more, when the hormones kick in.

Kudos to his parents for catering to his needs and helping to pave the way for his success so far.

Blobbi, I don't used to say....I still say...no hothousing or forced to perform, it is not sustainable. I purport the difference is most parents are confused between helping and pushing the children overboard.... To me, it all begins with understanding a child....
