You need a maid and ur paying a heavy sum of 600 bucks, ex-spore and 6 yrs experience with bad attitude ,,,, ok for that amount her last employer does not think shes worth keeping and rather not hv her so doesnt that answer yr question? U need not put up with her and ur overpaying her. Go get another maid if she continue with such bad attitude. At 600 u can get a better maid. All my past maids wash clothes by hand except for bedsheets and wipe floor by hand everyday. Mop not allowed. I hv not seen black faces coming frm them as they are told what to expect before coming in. No issue with this for te past 27 years.Hi Mummy Dadeda,
Do you know what did she told me after she hand wash clothes for one month. She said she don't want to work for me due to hand wash clothes. So no choice, I told her no need to hand wash and not even my office wear. Till now she just work for me 3 months and she's a Filipino. She have weekly sun off and she go out as early as 8am.
She told me her ex-employer didn't renew her contract co's my maid request for pay incrementbut her ex-employer rejected her. The ex-employer told her that if she want $600, she might as well get a new maid just cost $450 and with Malaysia or middle east experience just cost $500.
I really have no choice, I need a maid co's I have a 17 months baby. But my mum is the one taking care my baby and the maid just help up when my mum eat, bathe. Mainly she do the household work and cooking. Somemore the maid now don't respect my mum, always show black face to my mum. when my mum talk to get, she use her back to answer my mum. From the 1st day come to my house, she never greet my mum, even my mum wake up in the morning she also didn't greet her. At least She should call ah ma. Even my elder son wake up will also call all us. She don't even need to attend my elder son co's he's fully handle by my mum too. -
Hi Carol- If your main concern is cooking and cleaning, and partial childcare ,why don’t you get an Indon maid ? Filipinas make you feel as though you should be grateful they are working for you, they show faces, talk about their rights, need a room etc…
I rather engage an indon, cheaper. price is one thing …fresh maid basic $450 but do you or your family have the patience to let the girl learn ? Fresh maids are coming from a totally different background so the girl may take 3-6 months to learn all the ropes… during this time ,if there is anyone who is constantly nagging at the maid then chaos will happen
Take an experienced maid, more good, slightly more expensive. set back is she may or may not want to listen to you,may show black face. In my opinion is ,if the maid is given ample rest ,and treated well, i mean respectfully, she will love her job. But of course I prefer to clear this to my maids the moment they enter my house, you want me to treat you nice, you better be nice, otherwise i will blacklist you.
there are times,my old fresh maid used to show faces, and I will tell her, that i am sending her back…and she starts improving again…she was a very lazy sort, her face can show it…but that time i urgently needed a maid so i took her from Comfort, but since I switched agent 1 yr ago i am much happier, although there are some hiccups too,you know maids have a different level of brains than us .
BUT BOTTOM LINE IS DONT BE TOO NICE TO YOUR MAID, -
whats the usual timing for their work hours like what time wake up and sleep. got break in-between?

Your maid has a really bad attitude. Think you should get a replacement. She is not worth the money. Can your mum speak Bahasa or English? Take Indo if she can or Filipino maid ex-Malaysia if she can't. Since you are not at home, it is better to hire one that your mum can control and can listen to elderly. Those that dare to venture to Middle East are \"risk takers\" - different personality profile and may not like to take instructions. Indonesian maids are better nature. Filipino can understand English. Better for your maid to use sign-language to teach a new maid then to see a black face all the time. She is costing you almost a thousand if you include levy, accommodation and food! I didn't have any elderly to help out when my kids were young and left it entirely to my maid. I hire new maids who are mothers themselves around age 24-26. My youngest kid went to child care from 18 months. Sound a bit young, but now he is academically strongly than my eldest child who didn't go child care until K1. The new maid should help ease your mum's workload on the kids as well. It is best that your mum manages her and let the maid know that your mum is boss, since you work late. That's my two cents worth of sharing. All the best. It is not easy being a working mother. The journey is long. It is important to get good help at all. Don't settle for less.
I also hope to hire a fresh maid but I have no time to teach. My mum has to look after my 17 mths baby and handle a 8 yrs old boy. So she have no time for the maid. That shy I hire aeexperience maid but didn't expect that they have such a bad attitude. As for me, sometimes I need to work till 8 or 9 pm then reach home, where got time to teach the maid. Now I'm in a no choice position co's I believed all experience maid will have such bad attitude too. Hai........chixchix:

My maid sleeps at about 11pm and wakes up about 545am. Prepares breakfast for us and the kids. After we leave at 645am, she is on her own to do the housework until we are home for dinner. The kids do not come home for lunch everyday. Then in the night she usually does the ironing because she says it is cooler. Dinner is usually at 8pm. She is on call all the way up to 11pm if necessary but she is free to do anything. Actually even if she sleeps in the afternoon, we don't know. But it doesn't matter as long as the house is clean, laundry is done and dinner is cooked. She plans what to cook daily and what to do. There is certain SLA that I set. As long as she adheres to that, I leave it to her to manage.

Hi carol
Every household do things differently. If you hire an experience maid and you don’t make time to teach/tell her, or don’t insist, she will do her own way. No surprises there.
Most Ph maids will bully if they can bully. They are on the constant look out for expat family with own room, own tv and internet. They are more ang moh inclined than Asian. They will say yes to anything just need to get their foot in Singapore first.
If you are a 1st time employer, and you get these ex-sin more than 2 years, they will walk all over you. After 2 years they will walk all over you anyway. You maid is trying to get transfered, she don’t even bother if she will loose her job. Just my humble opinion. I will replace her.
Like the others mentioned, you are probably better off with an Indo maid. But don’t expect just because you pay $600, they will be automatic. If you don’t care enough to give her instructions, they won’t care enough either…they will just do it their way. -

Actually I have stop work and stay at home and teach my present maid for 2 months. In this period her work and attitude is ok, also willing to follow my mum instruction. It's just when I start working, she change and not as good as the pervious 2 months. Can you advice me how to choose a experience indo maid that willing to follow elderly instruction.
Getting an experience maid who will obey the elderly is like striking a Toto.... it's v difficult to find one. These maids are v smart & know who is paying their salary so will behave when the mam is at home but will behave v differently when the mam is away. If u want experienced maids, you hv to be vv firm & clear in yr instructions & not let her take control over the household. But since yr mum is around, I suggest u take a fresh young unmarried maid.... obedient & hardworking & no burden from her home.... But be prepared to train her for 6 mths. And after more than a year, be prepared all the hanky lanky will start as they become experience.
I hv used 4 inexperienced maids & 2 experienced maids so far. My exp w fresh maids hv been v good & they will finish 2-4 yrs contract w me. My exp maids gv me a lot attitude problem... one went missing & the current one is damn ya ya papaya!!! At 1st I was v nice to her coz she cooks v well but soon I realized I am losing control. She request buying branded toiletries (my expenses), unofficial off day (which means I don deduct her salary), rebond her hair & buy hp (her expense). She is always on her hp from 9am til nitetime & always on Facebook using my wifi. At 1st I tolerated her but now I am standing firm & showing her who's the boss!!! She's more well behaved now after getting many scoldings from me. -

8? I don't think so.
Someone I know was asked to go attend the course cos she changed maids a few times., but nowhere near 8 times. -
Sorry to cut in but I have a q about my maid.
She has serious menstrual cramps and I took her to a GP. Doctor says her cramps not normal and hence need to go for a scan. I suspect it could be cyst or fibroid.
I know we have to pay for her medical bills like cough, flu or fever. But this is 女人病.
Are we also obliged to pay for her?
