      From P1 term 2 onwards -

There will be some mini byte tests, accumulate towards final score in term 4, for each subject.
(Mother tongue Chinese / Malay / Tamil, English, Maths)

The banding system is used, reflected in their report card, at end of the year in term 4 -

      Band 1 : 85 % and above

      Band 2 : 70 to 84 %

      Band 3 : 50 to 69 %

      Band 4 : less than 50 %

      =============================

      Last Friday (24 jan) -
P1 cca posting / outcome results were released, to parents.

      =============================
Some of the p1 English teachers are hardworking.
they took effort to walk the extra mile, "on the ball" type.

For each show & tell -
Tr going to video tape their pupils’ show & tell, store into pupil’s thumb drive, bring home
And let parents review their child’s facial & verbal expression from thumb drive, & in turn help their dd to improve, in their next show & tell.
(assessed, from p1 term 2 onwards)

Show & tell is oral -
preparing them towards term 3, to start creative writing / composition.

        Hi all,

There is no banding system for P1.
The entire class will move automatically to the next level. E.g if your DC is from 1I she will automatically move to 2I.
Only at end P2 there is "silent" banding and the official one is at end P3.

          What is MT fortnight har?

          For MT fortnight (Chinese) -
there are various activities for different level.

          Example

For P1, pupils will decorate a new year card in class.
There are activities like make a bookmark where they will have to write their 4-character greetings and cut a 'frame'; do paper-cutting of mandarin oranges, fish, pineapples, flower or Chinese opera face mask, during recess.

These activities have the aim of making Chinese fun and interesting for pupils, so that they appreciate and like Chinese.

            Yes, correct.

So, P1 will move up to next year p2 same class, together with the (same classmates + normally , also together with the same form teachers & co-form teachers).
            So, example:
2014 class 1g will move up into class 2015 class 2g, next year.

            And To add on,
when come to end of p2 term 4 -
school strictly look at only p2 results, for \"silent banding\" into p3 classes.

School won't look into past p1 results performance @ end of p2, to decide \"silent banding\". if child did not do well in p1, child can still catch up in p2.

            But @end of p3 -
            Will be \"official banding\".

How does this banding works? Will the school takes the mean results of 3 subjects? Or will they be banded according to subjects? Ie. the child might have to change classes for every different lessons. Please advise. Thanks.

"Silent banding" @ end of p2 - only the school know, parents won’t know. (Because silent)

"Official banding" @ end of p3 - better clarify with school.

End of P2, the students will be officially banded for Chinese into CL and HCL classes.

End of P3, the students are streamed according to their school results - English, Math and Science. Chinese will, again, be banded into CL and HCL.
