      QMS,

Shortlist the schools you're interested in, check if they are within 1km (for hot schools). Register at the school at the phase you fall under .

In the meantime, prepare your child for P1 (I'm still rather relaxed about this now 😛 ) Most if not all the schools, are trying to be on par because MOE is pushing principals to raise the standard.

      All the best 😄

        Hi Concern2,

I saw the birth rate for 2004...there is a low birth rate for that year. I think and pray hard my daughter would be able to get into the school.

        Mummies,
I think it's better to check out the school culture and then shortlist. Once you have decided on the school, don't listen to others too much or you will have more stress.
Though the birth rate can be low, but you may need to check out the school's intake figure for next year.

Last year, we were quite confident that our son will get into the school in phase 2C due to proximity (and also based on previous year's records). Unfortunately, due to the school's plan to transit to single session in the next few years, the school has started to reduce the intake by 1 class this year, and we ended up with balloting ... and extremely unforunate, we got balloted out !!

Yes true, by 2018 all primary schools need to be in single session. Therefore can see the schools would be starting to reduce the intake 1 class by 1 class per year.

not all school choose the reduced intake approach. Some chose to switch campus or build additional classroom at existing campus.

You are right to say that it does not apply to all schools (and I also did NOT say that). Some schools are already in single session, some schools will need to be combined, some schools will build new premises ... so I am just trying to share my real life experience.

Well, is up to the forumers here to take the relevant advise accordingly. Who ever participated in this thread, has shown that they care for their kids ... if not, they would not have been here.

Yes, I think is always good to find out early so that you can strategize your P1 registration approach.

It was a real bad experience when you think everything is ok, and then double hit for being balloted out. I have to admit that I did not do my homework well, and ended up in that situation.

                    😎

FYI, there are NO kindergartens in Singapore that have affiliations with primary schools, regardless of whether they have the same name.

                    correct me if wrong.

is Nanyang Kindergarten aff to Nanyang Primary. Those in Nanyang Kindy ll stand higher chance to get into NPS. Well...they hv same foundes day together and usu together as Nanyang family day together wif NYGH. likewise what i understd is Nanyang Pri is aff to NYGH but not HCI.

There is no affiliation between any pre-school and Primary school in Singapore for the purpose of Primary 1 registration.
