Compared with the way my wife insists on washing the dishes, yes. Compared with other frugal/well-trained people, no.

U should have seen the way my wife (in fact, her whole clan also liddat wan haiz) washes dishes n cups. I think she uses an entire swimming pool's worth of water.

I was trained by mom when little. I have to wash the 2 toilets to earn $5 for excursion (need to buy chips). But she deducted $1 cos I used the entire bottle of JIF. \"save save save\" she said. She also say the TV will \"melt\" if we watch cartoon for too long. Guess she want to save electricity.

I know where u r coming from....i was also well-trained. But my wife's family, even her entire clan, do not save water nor electricity. Strangely, even her grandparents are not frugal...

luckily got dishwasher to save my day LOL....mine is quite economical....one full load only uses 23 litres of water. Full load is quite alot of stuff!

Actually, if you read the reports a few weeks ago in ST, to save water, they say to use the dishwasher. Yep, I think it does save water for me.

Is the maid entitle pay during her home leave? I have already paid for her return air tickets. Just want to check what’s the norm.

In our case, yes and it is also listed in the employment contract.

Yes, its paid leave unless she decided to stay home for 3 weeks instead of the usual 15 days then you can discuss with her on no pay leave after the 15th day. In Singapore, employer pays everything!!! Maid breaks things in the house, we pay. Maid runs away, we pay. Maid got pregnant or get into trouble, we pay. Maid falls sick, we pay. Maid goes home, we pay. Maid wants to renew contract, we pay for renwal of passport. Maid breaks contract, we also pay for new maid because replacement also means money interms of insurance etc, etc.

Now…did I miss out anything else??
