Thank you zbear for starting this thread and jtoh for reviving it. Our children may be young adults now, but we are still kiasu parents and it is nice to be able to share issues or ask things we are unsure of here. Thank you.
As it is, i just now read about the transitlink concession pass. My ds too has been charged with adult farea and we thought maybe we'd wait and perhaps the school will advise them what to do. But if it can be extended at the atm machine, all the better. Will give it a try. Thank you CuteCuteMommy.
My ds chose MJ over possibly TJ (he got 7 net) because he does not want to be stressed he says. Does anyone know anything about MJ? I think it's an ok jc. I have no idea how jc life will be like nor am i very familiar with the points or how they calculate the exam results. As in everything else in my ds's school life, i learn as we go along. Which is why i appreciate this thread.

jtoh:
I'm reviving this thread for parents whose kids are in JC. Today's reporting day for the JAEs and the start of Orientation for the J1s. Let's share our experiences as our kids venture on another new education journey. In the meantime, my daughter's still fast asleep at home...
My ds was a little miserable on his 1st day. Most of his close friends were not with him and he felt alone amongst his new group of friends. He came home saying he missed his secondary school! But today, things seems better and he looks like he is trying to settle in. Hopefully he'll be happy and make many new friends. -
I think heβll be fine after a few days, especially with all the orientation activities going on.

I hope not to be slammed but I am just sharing what I heard from various sources that MJ is much better than TJ although TJ has the IP prog.
I don't have the details but this is what is circulating around. -

As long as the child feels he is in the right place, he will do ok.prancingpony:

Actually I find the comparison between diff schools very lame. -
Dear Moderator
How about making this thread STICKY so that we donβt need to search for it each time.
Thanks. -
May I ask a silly question but hope someone can assist to ans:β
Is there so call PE lesson in JC and must every student participate in CCA so as to make it compulsory? Is CCA a bonus point to entry in Uni? -

Yes please.Dear Moderator

Yes there is PE. You can go without CCA but then there won't be much to write in your testimonial/T3A. No bonus pt but outstanding cca can be used for discretionary admission into uni (rep singapore) and for those courses that req interview eg law/med/den they will look at your cca records also as one differentiating factor.May I ask a silly question but hope someone can assist to ans:--
