Guys, what you have all said is truely what i have been experiencing with my gal too. Just want to tell you that you are not alone. Let's work hard and stretch them to the best of theiir ability. Actually, on a separate note, i have been scouting for international schools for her. This is one of my option too. Singapore education system just not suitable for her.

Nope, in my opinion, prelim will be the good gauge.

Prelims tend to be a little difficult compared to the actual PSLE…For last year, my school’s prelims were much more difficult than the PSLE, at least for Maths. So if your kids are usually in the top classes and usually hit > 85%, you could try multiplying theur prelim total score by 0.72 instead of 0.75. It’s slightly more accurate.

But if you’re typically the average student, e.g. 75-80%, 0.75 might be more accurate.

Not sure bout this bcos my 2 older kids scored much higher in PSLE than prelim. Mayb it's bcos I try not to 'peak' them too early.

You will only know it it's a good indicator after the fact when it's not helpful. Just tell your child to work smart and try their best.

                      Maths Tutor Mr. Lim:
last year psle maths paper is a jokes, happen about once every 50 years :rotflmao:

psle exam paper difficult or easy not important, why?
                      % of A and A star (standard Subjects) National 2013 (2012)
                      eng 44.4 (44.7)
                      maths 45.3 (44.5)
                      science 42.0 (42.3)
                      chinese 77.8 (80.7), think...............

0.75 = 3/4 easier to remember compared to 0.72 (use by school teacher)
both also not accurate, need to +-10 or +-20
may be 0.7212348903489234879352 more accurate :rotflmao:

more than 100 if, not just 2 if, think........
                      eg
                      if fainted during exam :rotflmao:
Not really. Coincidentally, it was rhe same year MOE decided not to release top scores and also decided that the PSLE scores will be graded by bands soon. MOE seems to be attempting to apply less stress on the PSLE. 0.72 is pretty accurate, probably what I would have gotten if I hadn't stepped up my game in the final few days. Maybe you're just afraid you'll lose business if it becomes known that PSLE is going to be easier? 😆
