For the named teachers, they can take the opportunity to improve their teaching competences, for the benefit of the children they teach (ultimately, this is what we parents are concerned about, isn't it), so much so that parents can turn around to compliment them.

teachers are humans too. naming them or even parents whose kids are from xx class would be unfair to them since this is a public forum. this is cyber-bullying.

As in, no objections from parents here to name the teachers. Which could lead to other parents assuming it is ok to name teachers for sharing purposes.

I think we need to exercise our own judgement. Sometimes it's tough to share if we don't highlight who and who and which class. Unless we know who and who DS/DD in which class and send PM.

To me, if the teachers read this forum, they should take it as a platform to help them improve. Parents to a certain extent are the school customers. For those of you who deal with customers at work, doesn't your boss observe your relationships with your customers for your appraisals? If you can handle your customers well and make them happy, it's a win-win situation.

I believe the most notable open discussion about PH teachers was that of a certain ex-subject HOD. I believe those "senior" parents can still remember. No one objected to this teacher being named. Many parents shared about their children’s experiences with this teacher.

For me to name a teacher, sth serious must hv happened. I named for the benefit for sharing, definitely not intended to cyber bullied.

For parents who do not hv the time to read my sharing from page 1, I like to repeat the following:

              1. HOD - with administrative duties, HOD can be absent from teaching. What then happened? Either the class is given silent reading or a stand in teacher will give out assignments.

              2. HOD Science Mr. Woon - he has the knowledge but lacks the ability to reach out to the pupils. Has he improved over the years? I do not know. If anyone has better feedback, do consider providing.

              3. HOD Maths Mr. Koh - it was after CA1 that I realised my ah boy did not understand the order of operations. When I raised this issue, another parent came forward to confirm her child had the same prob. During the PTM in March, I find him a soft person that can be bullied by pupils.

              4. Ms.Teo - I advise parents to pay more attention to what the child is learning if she is their teacher.

I named the above, for sharing purposes, never intended for shaming purposes.

If doing so, leads to setting a bad example for other parents, I will stop posting in this thread about teachers.

Exactly. It is for sharing, not shaming. Therefore parents do appreciate the sharing and benefit from it.

The parent who posted the email describing her child's serious class situation and containing the teachers' names also clarified that she posted for sharing purposes only.

Doubt parents would really want to shame teachers and be disrespectful on purpose.

I seriously find Jennifer’s post is very useful. Will definitely pay more attention to my DD’s progress if one of the teachers teach her. Thanks, Jennifer.

At the same time, I find it unnecessary to name the parent from which class. Putting myself in her shoes, I do not want to be named in a public forum in such a manner.

This is just my one cent comment as a newbies…

I believe in cordial closure. Now that things have simmered, it's a good time to say my peace.

I have always been uncomfortable whenever a teacher's name is posted online, even in the good old days. Perhaps what prompted a response from me this time round was that besides the teachers' names, their work plans for the year and other private details were bared for all to see.

I never liked to sound like a broken record and so I shall stop.

As someone has rightly alluded, this PH thread is first and foremost, a thread for existing PH parents. The merits for and against posting teachers' names online should be for you folks to decide.

My son has left for a different sch, and so should I. :imanisland:

I also find Jennifer's posts very useful. In fact, it was after reading her warning post on Ms Teo that I checked with my son and confirmed that as his Science teacher last year, she had taught his class quite a few wrong Science concepts. I was quite upset but by then it was too late cos already after SA2.

Hence sometimes it is not that we parents want to shame the teachers, but if for so many years the teacher(s) still remains(s) the same without improving, then we parents have no choice but to share frankly even on public forum like this.

I believe that all of us appreciate the generous sharing of all Pei Hwa parents, whether ex-, current or going-to-be. Sometimes misunderstanding or unhappiness arise due to wrong choice of words. Some of us are more cyber savvy than the others. Some of us are more potato while some are more helicopter. Some are more 心直口快 while some are more 小心翼翼。Whoever/whatever we are, I believe that we are all genuine concerned parents with no malicious intention, so let us give each other more allowance, chill and move on lah. Don't show any :imanisland: good-byes ok? In fact I think it says alot on the generosity and unselfishness of the \"parent alumni\" (Jennifer, Janet, FQW, etc) when they no longer have a stake in the School and yet still care enough to come back to share.

                        :thankyou: for your kind words.

Frankly, I was upset last night after reading some of the posts.

A saying goes 说者无心,听者有意, hence the misunderstanding.

As known, my children are no longer in PH.

I hope for many newer PH parents to continue sharing in the most amicable manner possible as ours would likely to become outdated as the years go by.

Lastly, all the best to all P6ers this year.

With some changes to last year papers (deemed by many easy), this year might be another unpredictable year.

Whatever MOE rolls out, do continue to pay attention in class, make sure whatever not so clear topics are checked n cleared up, rest well, eat well n play well too.
