I would like to know if JCs have recommended textbooks for H2 Geog and H1 Maths? Any recommended reference books for GP and H2 Lit? Can you give me the details? Thanks!
Is it the practice of JC students to mostly rely on notes and practice questions from teachers (especially for Maths and Lit)? It seems rather shallow not to study from a textbook. I know teachers will not have the time to teach from a textbook, but are students required to read at least one in each subject?
My DD told me 'No Text book\" School bag is very empty... It's more like a Hand bag! -

I am just a bit concerned as I don't think studying from notes right from the beginning is the best way to learn. So far, she has been told to get a workbook for H1 Maths (but there's hardly any teaching material in there), and a textbook for Management. Still waiting to hear about Geog and Lit. She has to buy the Lit texts, of course.

What are the Lit texts used for H2 Lit in JCs? Do all JCs in Singapore do the same texts or do they have some degree of choice?

Sorry to ask a stupid question - I see that my dd is very stressed in JC.
I would like to know from those who have gone to the U recently, is U life less stressful n less hectic? -
zbear, is your dd in JC1 or JC2? How’s she stressed out?
-
In JC1. She said there are lots of homework, tests etc.
-
No choice I guess. The JCs only have 2 years to prepare them for A levels. Your dd’s in DHS? Their classes & tests are ahead of other JCs bec most of the others would just have completed orientation and only started serious lessons last week. No tests in sight yet.

I hv constantly asked her how is she coping with her sch work after hearing all those scary stories of JC life/ exams...
She assures me still manageable now....
Think the worse will come in when PW starts....crash with all the common tests...
Somemore her FT wanna them to initiate some community projects... :yikes: -
