Me too, will stay neutral and do what necessary as DIL. Respect her as DH's mother.
Forgive her for all her selfish and mean acts--never!
Mine's on Saturday afternoon.
I've already told my parents that we're going to their place for reunion dinner, but I'm scared that last minute, MIL will make alternative plans. :xedfingers:
I really hate reunion dinner with them.....I will never forgets that I was not invited to IL's reunion dinner even we already ROM......she treated me like outsider. All my sisters went to their future in law's house for dinner and I was at home........my mom was so sad when see me treated as outsider by her. -

I am eating reunion dinner on Sat with my parents at 4pm(first round for dinner) then leave for IL's place after that.
Last year we had earlier, late lunch with my folks.
I really dread it, just going thru the motions....

Eating slightly early at my parent's and then going off for the in-laws reunion at 6pm.
Didn't work well for us. They say that we come only before the start of their dinner. And 6pm is SO... LATE..., had no time to talk and stuff before the dinner.
Plus DH was always so impressed with my mum's cooking that he's already very full after eating there. Was kanna found out easily that we tried to cheat our way through. So we discarded that and just went for his side, so I've never had reunion dinners with my parents since.

My side slighty different.
My parents will be alone when we leave for dinner, coz me only child.
So I booked somewhere eat out then go to ILs after, then me mummy n helper dun have to wash up....
ILs place normally eat Hainanese chix rice, or steamboat. Think very unfresh
ingredients here, real tough meat n funny smelling fishball. I am not kidding here. Pig's inside n all that my DH dun dare eat, not to mention my son
I dun mean to be rude, just dun understand why, I sit thru it anyway....
So my DH will eat all he can at the earlier round

Same here lor. Last year, they changed the reunion dinner date from CNY eve to another date, because BIL wants to go overseas for holidays. So we went back earlier. Then, MIL asked us to go back again on CNY eve to eat since her daughter will be coming back again. I flatly refused, I have to eat with my own mom, I told DH.
Just don't feel fair after so many years of me giving in and having to cancel my own dinners and relative get-togethers and in the end, she has double standards.
This year, they guai guai don't anyhow change date. Otherwise, I'll say not free. We keep our dates, and change all our appointments to meet, then they suka suka just change like that... And we are the ones with children, the rest no kids ma... -
I'm so glad I don't have this CNY-reunion-with-IL problem. Ever since the disastrous CNY holiday 2 years ago, don't think MIL will ever come all the way here for reunion anymore 8). I just feel sad not being able to spend CNY with my parents

Hi minnie2004,
Are your parents in HK?
I would love to spend CNY there. Spent quite a few Xmas and New Year there with family
