CHIJ Family of Schools

mum03:
My DD just started pri 1 this year at CHIJ Katong Convent, \"being hiao\", I am not sure yet, cause she has being always been interested in the way she dresses up. Isn't that what girls are all about  , I remember doing it when I was their age. DD likes the sch so far, as for sec sch, we have intended to put her in a mixed sch, not so keen in CHIJ Sec, not because of the \"wild\"thing its just because that we prefer her to get adjusted into the BGR, in a good way.

Hi Mum03,
i am planning to enroll my girl to CHIJ Katong too (2012).
I am not an academic focus mother but like esmummy, i am more concern on the general ethos of the school.
With your girl in CHIJ katong, any comment to the ethos of the school?
specially to the big girls like, P5 and P6  -

I am not sure of the Pri 5 and Pri 6, however I did some PV with the Pri 5 kids, and notice that they are generally very well behaved, and open to suggestions. They wish you \"GOOD MORNING AUNTY\" when they see you in the canteen. personally I am happy that my DD is studying there.
Hope it helps -
Hi Mum03,
Thanks a lot !! That's good enough ^_^
By the way, i am planning to enroll myself for the PV too...
But due to work.. i can only be there as a traffic warden  -
Hi Namie, Iβm not sure too but that was what i was told when i called the school up. If 2B is available that is good news, though the dilemma here is also which school is better in terms of a balance education? and should i worry too much about distance is sheβs taking the school bus?
Hi Janet_lee88, OLGC is 10 mins away, TP 20mins (by car not school bus) - about the same when school moves to temp premise.
Will it be too tiring for a young child if the school journey is long considering she will go by school bus that will make multiple stops.
Can someone advice if TP and OLGC are single sessions? -

If your girl is Catholic, you fall under 2B, regardless of distance, though you would have to provide your girl's baptism cert at registration to prove that she is Cathlolic. Hope that helps.
I just checked with a friend whose 2 nieces are at CHIJ OLGC and she confirms that it is single session for that school all the way. -

It is always finger biting for first child, :nailbite: after that, sit back and relax for 2nd child, especially if 2nd child is of same sex as first! Been there done that!25hourmaid:

Actually 2nd child & only girl. Son's Sec 1 this yr also so stressed but he's tougher - WE experienced some \"culture shock\" 1st week when the older boys were behaving badly but he's settled in well. Also its been a while since i had to send my baby out to school (K2 only 3hrs) & being a girl + final child... more pampered - + she is very attached to us, still teary going back to sch after only 1 wk of sch hols... + I'm just a mom that can't seem to let go... sigh.... My hubby had to tell me \"Let son take the public bus for pete's sake, he's in sec 1\". Well, I'm just like that and am working, can't imagine if i stayed home with them, they'll be glued to my sides hahaha! I know i'm a terrible mum...
