2014 PSLE Discussions and Strategy
-
Priority now is PSLE oral…at same time, teaching is still ongoing.
Encourage kids to do their best so as not to look back with regret.
the 3 months after that final paper will be best holiday ever…then they will have no worries when results are released.
Every year, PSLE is also the time the haze psi peaks…so take care during that period. -
Dino mummy:
A good 'wake up\" call is to let the child fail for school tests. The child will wake up immediately. Afterall, what is important is PSLE.Hi
For timetable..how detail it is? Do you indicate a specific area need to be done?
Eg,
Monday - English (Grammar), do Grammar assessment book ...
I have a timetable for DS but he is not adhereing to it. He has v little homework this hoilday. We gave him some practices to do during the day when we are at work. Yday, when we were back aft 8pm, he had only just started the practices. Asked him why din he start earlier and wat he did during the day..He jus said he lazed around, dun feel like doing.
For the past few mths, we have been explaining to him the importance of revision and discuss w him on the choices of schools etc etc...He is juz not motiviated..
Has this \"cant be bothered\" attitude. He want to make his own decision like not to do certain piece of work or not to learn spelling etc. At times, we let him decide but it turned his decision was a wrong one. Thot he will \"wake\" up aft that, but no loh..
Can anyone share how to \"knock\" some sense into him.. -

p6 is a good time to knock some sense and get them to wake up…fortunately the CA/SA is not counted in the PSLE. so if they don’t do well for SA1 in May, they will get worried.

Back to school today. My DS are happy to be back...miss their friends!
Yes, did not push DS1 too hard during the 1 week break - which just flew past with lightning speed. He was surprised at my relaxed attitude...now that I can see he has woken up a bit...I let go...(got that \"Frozen\" song ringing in my head!!!!)
DS1 has no more CCA! :rahrah: I believe this will ease things a bit for him. And I have also not signed him up for any NSW papers except for English. So hopefully he will have a bit more breathing space....He does have a big music competition in June but we still have some time for that...
Let it go! Let it go! Wishing all P6 boys, gals and parents a happy Term 2!

try to discourage use of correction tape.
I was using it the other on my table calendar…guess what, it doesn’t stick.
this reminded me of the time I kept up the correction tape from son when he was sitting for his psle. -

What are the alternatives to correction tape. DS is so used to it :scared:try to discourage use of correction tape.

if it is a long sentence, use a ruler to strike across neatly.

if it is just a word or 2, strike neatly.
the exam scripts are stacked tightly on each other for 2 months before marking...what if the tape to blank out the area is stuck to the paper on top? what should not be seen will be. -
How about using liquid paper instead of correction tape.
